Price ranges/types of flowers for wedding in Oct?

We are getting married the end of Oct this year. I'm ready to pick out the flowers for the wedding and I'm trying to figure out the cost. I know it depends on what flowers you pick, and what is in season. I can't find a good list of what flowers are in season in Oct. Also, I just want a general list of what flowers are in the low, middle, and high price range. I don't need to go super cheap, but I don't have unlimited funds either. Any advice?

Reply:My advice is to discuss this with a florist or two.

I am also getting married in October and had no idea about what flowers would be best, what was in season, price etc.

What I did know was my budget, my colour scheme for the wedding and the kind of look I was going for. I went to a couple of florists to discuss ideas with them and they were so helpful. The one I went with talked me through my options giving me ideas and then telling me what I could change if I wanted to make it cheaper but still look good etc. She said to bring in a pic of my dress and the bridesmaids dresses when I have them so she can make sure the bouquets suit the colour and style - they have to be helpful or people wouldn't go back and use them.

They really know what they are talking about and the good thing is that you can talk to them without pressure to use them - just say you have a few places to enquire about, that way you can even get their advice if you are doing the flowers yourself.
Reply:pick your color scheme and go silk flowers...that way you keep them forever and can start with a few pieces a month until you are done.
Reply:Calla lilies are very popular, and you can get the fall colors- the reds and oranges. Maybe mums, sweetheart roses, orchids, tiger lilies, hydrangeas.... talk to your local florists for their suggestions.
Reply:Personally, I think Gerbera daisies are perfect. They are always in season, inexpensive and trendy, not to mention available in practically all colors.
