What is the best way to send someone a rose delivery internationally?

I would like to send roses to my girlfriend in Mexico but the big name floral companies charge a fortune. Is there a cheaper way to arrange a flower delivery to her home there?

What is the best way to send someone a rose delivery internationally?
my bf sent me roses to italy for my anniversary. what he did was search for a florist near my hotel and they only told him they accepted one credit card. luckily it was the one he had! he gave them his credit card number and they charged his card. it was such a surprise when they delivered it to my hotel!! its such a sweet idea, im sure your gf will love it!!
Reply:NO, foreign country do not always have the same services we do. So you can order her but the cost comes from no basic services there
Reply:what about trying to find a small florist down by where she lives in mexico, and have them send her the flowers? and then seeing how it is you could pay for it while still here in the States..

and i guess some Spanish speaking skills might come in handy (:
Reply:if you have a girl friend spend money on her and atleast she will know to what depth you can go tell her that you love her

money does not matter in love if you have a good financial background
Reply:no
Reply:get a dictonary and press the roses, then send them by mail

Silk or Real Flowers?

I'm getting married in October and have been trying to figure out flowers for then. I was going to use real, but I have recently made a bouquet of silk flowers that I think looks nice. My mom, however, thinks that silk looks cheap (even though 2 days ago she loved the bouquets I designed in silk...she must have heard it was 'cheap' from someone else). I don't think it looks cheap...although it is (not always though) a lot cheaper. And plus, they last forever (and you don't have to worry about them wilting before the wedding). I also have allergies. Here are some images of the bouquet I made. Does it look cheap or does it look nice for a fall wedding? I'm having this argument with my mom and I need some ideas. Thanks all!

Silk or Real Flowers?
I'm going with silk myself through this website. I had to verify with the lady that they really are silk because they look so good.

http://flowerpackages.com/index.cgi

And I don't think that silk is cheap, just an alternative. It's your wedding, do what you want.
Reply:if you have alredy made silk bouquets then continue with them
Reply:I think your flowers are very beautiful - go with what you want - it's your wedding, not your mom's.

They're nice and colorful - not the icky white or pastels that you think of as "fake wedding" flowers.
Reply:I am also getting married in october and i too have silk flowers, they are just as good as real ones and can last forever. At the end of the day its your wedding and you call the shots........Good luck(and with your wedding!)
Reply:I think the bouqet looks great! While real flowers are beautiful too, it would be nice to use the silk flowers because they will be able to last forever. I made my own bouqet for my wedding as well. My colors (an August) wedding were purple and yellow. It seems tacky to some, but I used silk sunflowers and other small yellow flowers along with some purple wildflowers. I made bouquets for the bridal party as well, so not only I could have some memento from a great day, but the girls in the bridal party could too. And if you have allergies as well, it is better to use something that will not cause a flare up on your special day. Congrats! And good luck.
Reply:its "YOUR WEDDING YOUR DAY" you do what you feel confortable doing if you want silk MOM stay out of this one...
Reply:I think the photos are absolutely beautiful.
Reply:its ur weddin go with wat u want but think of it like im for my weddin silk will never die and u dont have to freeze em to keep the real ones and silk always look good even after 50 yrs together
Reply:Your bouquets are GORGEOUS! (I would wrap thee stems in pretty ribbon, as a suggestion)

I did silks in my October wedding. We got engaged on the 4th of July and had a mid-October wedding. In looking back, I wish that I would have let someone else do the bouquets (either silk or fresh) just because I was on such a time crunch. I could have used that time for other things and been just as happy with the outcome. If you've got the time girl, do it.

If you have tons of other things that you want to make (special touches that convey who you and the groom are), I'd farm it out.

Also, the idea of mixing it up is a good one. We used silks in the ceremony and had fresh for the reception. We've been married a year and a half and people still mention our wedding when a wedding is brought up. We did everything for $1,800. Pick where your money and time will make the most impact. Shoot me an email if you have some specific things you need help with.

Good luck %26amp; congratuations!
Reply:I think they look beautiful. As long as you like them, don't worry about other people (it's hard, I know). No one is going to be 2 inches away from them anyways, I bet they won't even know they are fake!
Reply:The nice thing about silk flowers is that they last. You can give them away to the really special people in your life that attended wedding when it is through.
Reply:I think they are beautiful! It's a nice way to add an even more personal touch to your day. I recently attending a wedding that used artificial flowers for decoration and it couldn't have been more perfect! My step-sister used artificial flowers when she got married many, many years ago and they were perfect as well. I say go for it. You have a wonderful idea and are very talented. I think it would just make people speechless. Congrats and good luck!
Reply:I think that the silk ones look beautiful! You did a fantastic job! You have to think about it a couple different ways. Do you want to keep the flowers for longer then a week after the wedding? I wish that I had done silk because it would have last forever.

I think the silk is really nice and would look really good!
Reply:silk so you can keep them forever
Reply:I think the silk bouquets you did are nice, and I disagree with the comment about "lose the fruit". This adds interest and texture, something that people don't usually see in blooms.

It's your wedding, after all, so do what you feel is best, of course.

Since you asked, I think you should so silk on the centerpieces and decor, use real flowers for the bouquets and groom's flowers as well. It is easy to tell silk and real flowers apart when they are in a bouquet, but less so when they are arranged. If you have allergies, use a floral arrangement that will not bother you, or just take a pill/medication before the ceremony so that it won't bother you.
Reply:they look really good

,but silk flowers always look cheap at weddings.

thats just the way it is.
Reply:real
Reply:I love your flowers. They are beautiful. I used real flowers at my wedding and I so wished I would have used silk. My flowers are horrible looking now and with silk they are beautiful forever. My freind was married June 3rd and used silk flowers. People couldn't tell and your flowers look 10 times better than hers. Good luck and best wishes!
Reply:I think silk flowers are just fine, especially if you have allergies. As long as you are the one getting married I would tell your mom to be grateful that you are trying to keep the cost of the wedding down. The pictures look lovely and from a distance most wouldn't even know they weren't real.
Reply:I personally like real flowers better, but it's your day, do what you want, not anyone else. Good luck!!
Reply:You should definately go with what you want, not your mom! This is your wedding, she had a chance for hers. I'm getting married this weekend, and we just silk for all the flower arrangements for the reception, all the flower table centerpieces. Then we used real for my bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets. Other than those, everything is silk.. and I think mine look great, and I'm picky! You should choose withever you are happiest with!
Reply:i think you should mix it up a little

have some real flowers and some silk ones that way no one can say anything bad about the flowers remember hun this is your wedding and what ever you and the hubbie to be thinks is best then go with that you only need to keep yourself and your soon to be hubbie happy

for my wedding i had a small wedding with 1 vase of roses a wedding cake and also dinner for the people who came but then again we got married at are home with my mom are 4 kids and the preacher and his wife so not to many to worry about lol

good luck best wishes on your marrage
Reply:Those look really nice but id loose the fruit for a wedding boquet.

I had silk flowers at mine only because real costs so much more and i inquired about having my boquet dried after the wedding and its really expenisve. The silk boquet you will have forever.
Reply:ALWAYS ALWAYS GO WITH REAL FLOWERS. Your momma is right.
Reply:If you are on a tight budget and you want to use silk go ahead I think your flowers are beautiful! If you are paying YOU do what you want!
Reply:As far as the bouquets go, I think real is better. For the church and center pieces you could go silk.
Reply:wow!!!!!! the flowers you made are like so beautiful!!!!!!! Gal your wedding day is your day. Do what you want. I don't think silk flowers r cheap. Yours are so so Beautiful..........use your talent to make your day a mavel to all. Goodluck n congrats!!
Reply:Doesn't matter. In a few years nobody will care about the wedding. Silk or real, they will go in the trash eventually.
Reply:It's your wedding not hers do what you want.If you like the silk and your soon to be wife like the silk then get the silk it doesn't matter how cheap they were it's about you two being in love and you guys being happy on that day.Doesn't matter what anyone else says. do what you want but in the end all that's going to matter is that you two are finally going to be together.
Reply:I think your bouquets are beautiful. Nobody looks that closely at the bouquets anyway, they are all looking at YOU! I made silk flowers for my bridesmaids, but had real flowers for my bouquet, but since you have allergies, just get use silk. You don't want to be sneezing during your vows.

Take care.
Reply:I used silk flowers for my wedding and no one could believe they were not real. I think that bouquet is beautiful. You use whatever you want. It is your day and don't let anyone not even MOM take that away. Just check out my flowers....

The cheap flip flops from walmart make your feet break out do old navy flip flops do the same???

I just saw a recent e-mail that the cheap flip flops from walmart with the painted flowers break out in some kind of horrid rash and I wear the flip flops from old navy everyday in every color and I NEED MY FEET!! I was wondering if any one else was haveing a problem with the old navy flip flops? Or is it just walmart?? I LOVE MY FLIP FLOPS!

The cheap flip flops from walmart make your feet break out do old navy flip flops do the same???
I've had about 50 pairs of Old Navy flip flops and not had a problem. Rainbow flip flops are the best though - I live in mine!
Reply:I would try the Payless Shoe Stores. They have a variety of lower priced offerings. Yet they are substantial, fashionably placed, and wear well on the pocketbook. I have noticed too that they have introduced a few name brand products, in shoes, accessories, etc. I wish you great luck in your venture. Peace!!!
Reply:I get my kids flip flops from Wal-Mart every year to wear to the beach or the pool and they have never broke out in a rash. My daughter also loves the Old Navy ones because they have so many colors and styles, but again she's never had problems with them.
Reply:no old navy wont because walmart uses cheap chinese labor so there costs are low but the quality of their product suffers. on the other hand you can get a better quality pair of flip flops for more at old navy so keep wearing them!
Reply:Hey! Well, I usually get flip flops from Target and theyre fine and cheap! ALso, I got some flip flops from cvs and they are soooo comfy! Its sorta weird....:)))
Reply:Flip flops are to foorwear what the mullet is to hairstyles!
Reply:old navy ones are great!! i could live in them
Reply:hmm i dont think so, atleast its never happend to me.

Would it be better to order flowers to be delivered to mom tomorrow or deliver them myelf?

Its her birthday tomorrow, and I want her to get a big bouquet. Its about $50 or more dollars for a decent little birthday one. Is it cheaper to get it myself? Also, I wont be able to get to moms work until after 2:00. Do you think its more fun to get flowers delivered by a delivery guy or her daughter?

Would it be better to order flowers to be delivered to mom tomorrow or deliver them myelf?
I have always wanted flowers delivered to me but she might want to see you.

If she sees you all the time have them delivered that would be more fun.

She would not know who they are from at first and it will make her wonder and I think that would be more exciting
Reply:The delivery guy.
Reply:Delivered, it suprises her and you can then send her a cute card with it.
Reply:definately more fun to get delivered.
Reply:By the delivery guy if he's wearing shorts, no shirt, and does a dance.

She would prefer that you deliver the flowers yourself regardless of cost. It would mean more.
Reply:I would want my daughter to come and bring me my flowers :-)
Reply:I'm quite sure that she'd love to see you.
Reply:Of course by her daughter. It's a lot more personal, and I doubt she will mind if if come in the afternoon.
Reply:What you could do is buy and have delivered a smaller bunch of flowers...then...buy a single white rose and give it to her in the afternoon and tell her the single rose is because she is a singularly great mom and the single rose is because alone, like the rose, she stands out from all the rest. trust me, she will love the thought of the delivery to her workplace and love you for the sentiment of the rose.

Hi , i want 2 send some flowers 2 denmark , how do i and wot is the cheapest way pls ty?
maybe look in the phone book for a florist in denmark and phone up and send them?
Reply:Type in florists and Denmark. I did this for Holland, looked at lots of sites and for around 45 euros (approx. £30ish) a wonderful bunch of flowers was sent. Florist turned out to be in Barcelona! They dealt with a local Dutch shop aso
Reply:i wouldnt it costs roughly $50 just too send them
Reply:I will probably do it through Interflora, as it is well know all over the world, and i will trust them with my credit card details
Reply:I find that if you do a google search of florists, in the town you want to send flower %26amp; then phone the shop direct %26amp; ask them to deliver for you %26amp; pay with credit card. After all, this is what interflora would do %26amp; charge you loads.

Cheap presents for mom and dads 23 aniversery??? HELP!!!!!!?
If they went somewhere special for a honeymoon

get a picture to represent it out of a

magazine and frame it
Reply:a crystal picture frame you can get one at Ross for a good price
Reply:Find out what they really like. If they like music you can get some music for real cheap. You could cook them dinner. Sometimes that doesnt cost alot.

You could put a photo albumn together. With pictures of them or create your own.

If they like birds you can find an inexpensive bird house and use some inexpensive paints ot paint it. You could also go to the thrift store sometimes they have some cool wine glasses.

Good luck...
Reply:Write them a poem, it doesn't cost a thing

Have you noticed the prices of Publix have gone up?

Every time I go, I'm spending more and more money! Tonight, all I bought was food for tonight's dinner, plus a cheap bottle of wine and flowers, and I spent $70! Too bad the other grocery stores around here are too ghetto to go to. I might start going back to Winn Dixie, even though it's kind of gross :)

Have you noticed the prices of Publix have gone up?
Winn Dixie and Publix.....I remember those. You must be in the south. Do you have Piggly Wiggly's too?

It's not just Publix. The media is reporting that the cost of everything is rising. All the grocery stores are raising their prices. We're in the beginnings of a recession.
Reply:its not just at Publix its everywhere, I live in upstate NY and the prices here are out of this world milk alone is over $4 a gallon.

What flowers are in season for a September wedding?

I want a nice round bouquet, tied together with ribbon. I'm either wanting a medium pink themed wedding or an orange/yellow themed wedding. I don't want the cost to be high, as my budget is limited, but don't want it to look cheap either. Oh, and I hate granny looking flowers such as carnations.

I'm not necessarily looking for sophistication within the flowers. More like girly and fun.

Also, I don't want something that "could" be done...I want something that is in season. That way it keeps the cost down, and I can possibly grow some on my own for other decorations.

What flowers are in season for a September wedding?
Check out Alstromeria lilies, come in many colors, very hardy. Don't want carns, try mini carns or poms, roses in fall colors are avialable, not too pricey
Reply:September is sunflower season---girly, fun, and in your color theme!!!

Cheap silk boquets?

Im getting married next year and im trying to do everything myself and cheap as we are on a really low budet. I want to do my own boquets with silk flowers. Do you know where i can get them from in uk and resonably cheap and the material to go with it? In fact does anyone know how i would do it?

Cheap silk boquets?
Hiya!

When I got married, I also had a low budget and although I cannot answer your flower Q, i thought some of these hints might help you!

I got my cake from Marks and Spencers - they sell plain white iced cakes, and in different sizes, round or square, plus the pillars to make the tiers. I just had 2 tiers and bought a couple of cheap silk flowers from a pound shop and a metre of ribbon and decorated it myself.

Also, my biggest tip would be when booking things, dont mention it is for a wedding! the price seems to double!

I didnt tell the hairdresser she was doing hair for my wedding, just said I was going to wedding and wanted in styling - cost me £25.

I hired all my dresses and suits except my own.

I didnt do a sit-down meal for loads of people, just parents, siblings and bridesmaids - keep the cost down.

Ifyour planning a buffet, only cater for 60% of the total number, no one will no, no one will notice, and it`ll save u a fortune.

Make your own favours, if you are having them, and arrange your own table decorations. I got 3 helium filled ballons for £2, had 5 of those, 4 packets of shiney confetti and made the favours from a meter of fabric and put some sugared almonds inside then tied it with ribbon.

Its do-able on a budget!

If you want any more help, just email me!!!
Reply:Check out ebay - fabulous!! Lots to chose from %26amp; good savings to be had. Not for flowers but check out Jewlz wedding shop for a fantastic range of dresses. The prices are amazing %26amp; the quality outstanding. Good luck.
Reply:I'm getting married abroad next year, and to make sure all the colours are matching I've decided to look into bringing over silk flowers, for my bouquet, bridesmaids, and buttonholes... I have only just started looking into it, and not sure what the price of real flowered bouquets, but here are some websites that I have come across. Hope it helps, or maybe you can nick their idea and design!! lol

Congratulations and best of luck!
Reply:Go to a craft store and buy the silk flowers from there to make into bouquets. They should also have florists tape that you can use to bind the flowers together and ribbonstied at the top and flowing down if you want to use them also. You can also make head dresses for your flower girls etc from the same flowers. There are some flowers on wires...just twist the wired ends together until you have a long line. Then try it around your brow and make it into a circle the same size ...you can bind it together with the tape and a few ribbons flowing down the back are lovely. My daughter was into Furry dancing when she was youger and she had many of these flower headresses as they are so easily made I made her one for every outfit she had. You can also make buttonholes for the men like this...just make the flowers you like together and bind them to a safety pin with the floral tape on the back edge of the pin. It is pretty easy really once you get your head around it...just look for flowers with wire and you are home and hosed. Have a great wedding day!!!
Reply:Try and find the wholesaler most florists deal with in your area. In Glasgow there is one called Flower Scene in Admiral Street. Last time I was in I think the only stipulation was you had to spend £20. These shops have everything. Should find the same type of place whatever area you live. Advantage is you actually can see what you are buying, not just guessing from description and seeing in a picture.
Reply:Try www.jcpworks.co.uk

I'm using her and she's brilliant!
Reply:idid all mine myself so if you go to a local market you can pick cheap flowers from there then you can got cheap ribbon to go with them try to go for a colour that matches not the same exactly thought try not to get a big amount of flowers either once you have them spend time to look at differant ways to arrange them when you are happy with it tie the ribbon round not to tight but tight enough that they wont fall out when you have used them to keep them clean spray them with hair spray and you can wipe clean with a duster
Reply:Loved her flowers:

http://www.allweddingflowers.com/us/mich...

She's in the US, but I get a huge display and the unity candle for $300 delivered to my door. Over seas would probably be a little bit more expensive, but not that much. And just for the shipping.
Reply:is there a dollor store there ? cause you know what there a good buy and you actully have a variety to choose from,

good luck!!!
Reply:if youre really unsure where to start, ask advice from a florist, plenty of practice may produce good results, but dont let a bad bouquet spoil the rest of your attire, it may be best to buy one ready made, or have it done specially to compliment the dress, some things can be economised on, but flowers i dont think so, as you will have photos reminding you forever how you wished too late you had them done properly

Need cheap and fast Ideas for a wedding?

My step daughter just told us last week she was getting marrierd . the only thing she has is the dress, flowers and knife. We can not find anybody to do a cake or anything. Her real mom want help and I have not known her for almost a year now and im the one she is depending on and its hard when she lives 8 hours away. Does any one have any ideas what I can do? She told me tonight she adopted me has her momma so she wants me to act like her mom at the wedding. Someone PLEASE help

Need cheap and fast Ideas for a wedding?
Do you guys live in or near a major city? Craigslist.org will often have vendors that are in need of clients because they're new to the area or are just starting out. They also usually offer their services at discounted rates because of it. I know that I always check out those adds and see everything from wedding cake bakers to photographers to DJs on there. They're usually also available in a pinch because they need your business. Not always the best option, but most of the time, they end up being awesome. You might want to check it out.

How much time until the wedding? Unfortunately, you guys are just going to have to really push it and call up a bunch of people and go down the list. You also won't often get your first choices because of it, but at least you'll get someone. You'll have to make quick decision without a lot of time to ponder, so I would do as much talking with the bride to be as possible to make sure you have a good grasp on what she wants so that you can get the best vendor possible to suit her needs on such short notice.

I would also call up a local wedding coordinator and choose his or her vendor referral option. You might pay $200 and up for this service, but he or she knows a TON of vendors, and can usually pull strings to get them to do your weddings, and at a better price because of their business relationship with each other. It seems weird to pay money for this service, but it's SO worth it. If neither of you have time to scout out vendors, this might be your best bet.

Good luck!
Reply:try ordering a wedding cake at a local Grocery Store or Costco it should be faster if you order it right away
Reply:well you could do a small elope and make the cake yourself thats one idea or do a small cheap romantic wedding and im sure youll find someone to do the cake just og to a grocery store
Reply:Where is 8 hours away? I am planning a cheap wedding... a culinary art school is a good place to look or hospitality. They will plan the whole thing for pretty cheap.
Reply:My Dad lives in another state. So what he did was mail us a check and told us to use for whatever we wanted. Since you live closer, maybe plan a special trip or two to help her with some wedding planning and whatever she wants your advice on.
Reply:If you are using an officiate then contact them. If you are using a church minister you can still contact them. The officiates are used to working with other vendors and can give you ideas of someone to call. Spread the word around to friends, sometimes you will find someone who does it on the side for a great price and they are as good as a bakery.

Go to your local Wal Mart at the front door they post a monthly magazine with local vendors, or go to the links below and see if you can find a vendor in your area.

Congratulations and Best of Luck
Reply:Okay, you can do this!

1. Location options: Home, porch, backyard, park (may need to rent a pavilion or get a permit, but usually still really affordable -- my pavilion is $10.00 an hour, but I live in a place with a low cost of living), church fellowship hall (if you're a member; if not, the fees for using it will probably be higher).

2. Officiant: If you're not a member of a church, think about getting a judge to marry you. Sometimes they do not have fees, because they offer the service as a gift to their constituents. And since a judge puts less work into a wedding than a minister (no rehearsal, no worship service, etc.), the monetary gift you give him/her can be smaller.

3. Decorations: Dollar Tree has some cool ones and Wal-mart has tulle for 0.99 or less a yard. Wal-mart also has really nice silk flowers (it has two sections, one with cheap flowers and one with high quality flowers, but the everyday price for the nice ones is usually lower than the everyday price for nice ones elsewhere -- though Hobby Lobby is great if you hit a half-price sale). Dollar Tree has lots of colorful paper plates and cups, and Wal-mart has the pretty, clear plastic ones. You can find great cheap vases, candles, and other things for centerpieces at Dollar Tree. Thrift stores are also good places to check, but you might not have the time to shop around.

4. Cake: You actually have a few options. Like others said, you can have a friend make it or check out supermarkets. But you can also buy pre-made supermarket cakes in different sizes and stack them for a tiered look. All it takes is drinking straws or dowel rods; it's easy, and a search on the Wilton cake decorating site will show you how. I'm doing that, only with sheet cakes in three sizes. My cake will only cost about $55.00. Or, you could just get a large sheet cake. Some of them are very beautiful.

5. Favors: Not really necessary, but if you really want them, consider candy. It's cheap and almost universally loved. There is no need for monogramed boxes or bags; discount department stores and dollar stores have tulle circles, boxes, bags, anything you need.

Best of luck!
Reply:good luck
Reply:1. First, determine a location. Home? Church? Park? City hall? beach? Doesn't really matter where, but it get established FAST.

2. Officiant? Get the pastor or Justice of peace

3. How does she want to celebrate? Does she want a cake?We got our "wedding cake" at Whole Foods; it was a simple one layer 18" cake decorated with fruit. It was served to the parents tables, and everyone else got fruit tarts (also from Whole Foods). If she wants food, fastest way to book is a restaurant. Or if it's a super simple affair, get food from costco to feed the crowd.

4. Everything else is totally 1000% optional! Nice to have, but not worth stressing over.

Enjoy!
Reply:I would call local bakeries and grocery stores to see if anyone is available for the date she has in mind to make a cake. If you attend church, maybe there's someone in your congregation that could either help or knows someone that could. I would find the location for the ceremony and reception. If you have an afternoon wedding, you can just do cake and punch/soft drinks/water/coffee/tea and not have to worry about anything else. If you want to do more, I would keep the invitation list very small and go to Sam's Club and buy frozen appetizers and get some fruit trays and veggie trays. You can get invitation kits at Staples and make your own. I would hav your step-daughter helping whether shes 8 hours away or not she can still be involved in planning her own wedding and doing the work, like the invitations, etc.

Where to get a floral design in new york? and the price of a quarter sleeve?

I want to get a quarter sleeve floral tattoo (two lilies, or maybe other flowers, to symbolize me and my daughter) and I want to do it in New York anyone knows a good shop? And aproximately the price (I know I know cheap isnt good good isnt cheap)

Or maybe you have onter ideas for a quarter sleeve to symbolize my and my baby girl?

Where to get a floral design in new york? and the price of a quarter sleeve?
You will need to go to a shop and discuss it with the artist that you want to do it. Every artist charges differently. Find a good one though, so do you homework first. Check out what they have done on others first. I would think a quarter sleeve will cost you anywhere from $800, on up, depending on the detail and size.
Reply:I can recommend a good artist. Her name is Stacey Sharp. Go to tattoo.about.com and go to their featured artists page for more information on this artist. I have seen pictures of her work, and it is amazing. As far as price, I would discuss that with the artist.

Is there a home remedy to take care of a rose bush??

the flowers are blooming fine...it's just my leaves are dying!! they turn yellow w/ dark brown-black spots and then just fall off? i need a cheap way to replace the rose food that it might need...or is it another problem?

Is there a home remedy to take care of a rose bush??
What you have is a disease called black spot. It's a fungus. You can treat it fairly easily, although you will have to be persistent until you get it under control. First, work a layer of corn meal into the soil around the plants. Then spray the leaves with a 1:10 solution of milk to water. Who's really being cheap?

she said i was cheap, that i didn't tip, didn't buy her enough drinks, and her valentines flowers came a day late. i think only cheap people really care about money. i don't care if i pay a small amount or the bulk of a bill. i don't mind buying the drinks, nor the meal. all i do is as i'm told. you want to buy in rounds, then thats how i'll do it. you tell me what to throw in, thats what i'll throw. but don't add these things up and then call it cheap. isn't that the one who's really being cheap?

Who's really being cheap?
To tell you so, was bad manners. But if you're going to celebrate Valentine's, many prefer to do so on the actual day set for it, not the day after. Part of the hype, is getting those flowers on the actual day, so everyone can see just how special you are to someone. That they came a day late, says something, not only to her, but to whoever she was hoping to impress, which may have embarassed her.

True chivalry seems to have died as has the want for it that many women used to have. This leaves many men floundering, wondering what is expected from them, and many women irritated by either too much or not enough. Sounds like she expected more.

As to only cheap people really care about money, who sent the flowers late? Who was hurt by it? As to enough drinks, how many did she need? It seems to me, y'all have some issues. Your obsession with money, her's with having a show made over her.

But for the record, no woman wants to have to tell you what she wants. You're supposed to be able to read her mind, and act accordingly. If we have to tell you what we want, when we get it, it just isn't the same, doesn't have the same meaning. Contrary, aren't we?
Reply:Yes.

I am going to ask a similar question based on yours.
Reply:Sounds as both of you need to learn a bit about etiquette.

She: should keep her mouth zipped about not receiving all things she wants. Sounds rather crude to behave like this. Unless this is an official 1st class DATE, she should pay her own way.

You: should send flowers on time - makes the girl feel more appreciated.

Now think it over what is going on between U 2:

What kind of a relationship do you really have?

Is it important to both of you?

Do you care enough about each other to go the extra step in pleasing each other?

You two aren't married? Or R U?

Hope this helps in clarifying your situation.
Reply:Well, she sounds like a tough date! But unless the service is terrible, I would be embarrassed to have a date that didn't tip the server or bartender... Sometimes it's nice when someone does something without being asked! But that's a good point about what really makes people cheap...
Reply:slap on a pair and take control dude!
Reply:Fair point to the flowers, but was that within your control? Did you order them in plenty of time? If you did she should get off your case.

Valentine's shouldn't be about the money, it should be about making a bit of extra fuss over the one you love. Therefore, if she wanted more drinks she should have said so.

Ista's right, it was bad mannered of her to tell you that you didn't spend enough money.
Reply:You may not be cheap, but how and y did the V-day flowers come late? All you had to do was stop at a grocery store and buy a bouquet. Amazing that you didn't get dumped.
Reply:She sounds materialistic. Maybe take initiative instead of being told.
Reply:Doesn't sound like you're cheap. But you shouldn't do "as you're told". Do the right thing, if you are taking a girl out to dinner, you should take care of the bill and the drinks.

My flowers came a day late also, and I didn't mind, because I know his intention was good.

You guys should talk about this kind of thing.

Money can be a big problem in relationships.
Reply:anytime one gets flowers be gracious, thank the person and enjoy.
Reply:She's being cheap by going out with somebody she doesn't care for just because he spends money. You can't buy this woman's affection by spending more money on strangers!

Both of you would be happier in a different relationship.
Reply:I don't know if cheap is the right word...but she was being bitchy. Tell her to get over it, or she'll have to pay for everything she gets from now on.
Reply:Sounds like a whiney *****.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better.

any woman that will respect you will respect the fact that your money doesn't grow on trees. i love my girlfriend to death, and spoil her every way i can afford to. anytime we go to a restaurant i tell her to get what she wants, and if i'm on a budget i decide what I want based on price after she's decided. but she respects my overall lack of funds and never asks me for anything, and is always hesitant when ordering a meal. i also tip 20% rounded up to the nearest dollar though if we get good service, because waitresses only make about $2/hour and rely on tips. that's how they get paid if they do their job.

Where can I buy round mirrors about the size of a dinner plate to use with a vase for wedding centrepieces?

I want to have tall round vases with a flower submerged in water with tea lights on top of a round mirror in the centre of my guests tables. I can get the vases at spotlight for $3.50 each and tealights are cheap as will be the flowers. Now I just need to find the mirrors but can't find them anywhere except hire places interstate. I live in country VIC but would travel to Melb for them. Does anyone know where I can buy 12 of them. Thanks!

Where can I buy round mirrors about the size of a dinner plate to use with a vase for wedding centrepieces?
Try Hobbie Lobby
Reply:ive seeen them at walmart in craft sections.. check there. or michaels... or any craft store i would think
Reply:Local glass shop. they could cut circles out of scrap pieces of mirror
Reply:You should be able to get them at a glass cutter if you can't get them at a craft store.
Reply:Hobby Lobby. (God I love that place!)
Reply:ikea or micheals or joann fabric's
Reply:If you have a Garden Ridge near you I would suggest that. I've found that they have the largest selection and best prices on things like that. Otherwise any craft store (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.) will have them, but at a slightly higher price.
Reply:Try Michaels or another craft store.
Reply:Places like home depot will cut mirrors to size for you for cheap. Good Luck and Congrats
Reply:Michaels
Reply:I was going to have mirrors on my tables, but I changed my mind. I was going to buy them from this website. it is a good website I bought my favor bags from them. and they are not as expensive as they are at michaels. for 12- 8" round mirrors it is $24 dollars plus shipping. and for 12- 10 " mirrors it is $30 plus shipping so it isnt that expensive
Reply:Sounds lovely- I got some at IKEA about a year ago, I think 6 for $3.50. If you don't have an IKEA near you, you may be able to order off their website.
Reply:Not sure if you have these stores near you but Micheal's craft supply has them.
Reply:Walmart has them in there candle section
Reply:maybe try a glass shop

Help me pick out wedding flowers!?

So, I'm getting married in the fall and need some ideas for flowers to use in the bouquets. The dresses are champagne and I would like the bouquets to be fall reds, oranges, yellows, but I don't know which flowers would be the best. They need to be inexpensive, but not cheap looking. Any ideas? If you have a picture that would be great! P.S. We are getting married in a garden so we don't need ceremony flowers.

Help me pick out wedding flowers!?
I am using the same colors for my flowers as well. getting married October 4 2008. I am acutally meeting with me flower lady tomorrow!

here are some ideas that i am going to look into. She suggested that gerbera daisy's would be cheaper choice over roses.

Reply:I think that small bouquets (3: one yellow, one red, one peach color) of fall colored roses would be gorgeous. Roses are classy, elegant and timeless... just a thought....best of luck!
Reply:try %26amp; go with whatever flowers are in season, the are usually cheeper. deep red %26amp; purple %26amp; orange would look really preety with champagne.

Flowers on a date......flowers from my garden okay?

I have some flowers in my garden. They are not roses, I don't even know what kind they are. If I pluck them and take them on my third date, will she think that I am cheap or will she like it? I was going to pluck the flowers and put them in a basket. You got any better ideas to take as gift on a date.

Last time she came over for lunch she gave me tea leaves. Although we guys don't expect any gifts, it was flattering. She invited me for dinner, and I have no idea what to take her.

Flowers on a date......flowers from my garden okay?
sure it is!!!

its the thought that counts =)
Reply:I think it all depends on the girl. some would think its really sweet that you picked them yourself then if you have one of those high matinence gold diggin hoes then she would probably be mad she didnt get a dozen roses. personally, id think its really nice to get some hand picked flowers.
Reply:i think its sweet and kind of endearing that you want to give her some flowers from your garden. go ahead if she thinks your cheap then she has no idea what shes missing out on
Reply:...flowers from your garden is perfect. Perhaps put them in a small vase with ribbon tied around. That way she can place them on the table as you dine. If she asks tell her they are from your personal garden......big romance points.

You could also bring along a dessert for the evening or a special box of Godiva chocolates for her to enjoy during the week and remember how nice the evening was that you two shared.
Reply:If you tell her you were thinking of her when you went into your garden and picked the most beautiful flowers. Tell her these flowers mean more to you than any store flowers because they were grown with love in your own garden. She will MELT!!! and love it! good luck, swequin
Reply:umm dude just buy flowers. and tell her it was from y our garden or soemthing.
Reply:yes, depend on your date loved flower from the garden.
Reply:They're not dandelions are they? You don't want to bring no weed over to her house, unless you're growing some real weed, then that would be okay because you two could roll up one and enjoy the night together....
Reply:if i were your date i would like them.
Reply:That sounds really sweet.

When you give them to her, tell her "I picked these from my garden for you, I thought you would like them."

That is just the kind of sweet thinking that makes a girl melt. :)
Reply:I think taking flowers from your own garden is even more thoughtful than buying some at a florist. I bet she will too. Just make sure there are a substantial number so it doesn't look like you are scrimping. I would wrap the stems in a long, streaming ribbon of some sort to make it look like a bouquet. Make sure you don't cut them until you are ready to leave for her place because they may not last too long once they are cut.
Reply:Yeah that sounds really good - i am sure she will love them! And the basket is a nice twist. You gonna get that basket back?

Anyway - just make them look nice.
Reply:yeah man its the thought that counts
Reply:I think that flowers form your garden would be a great gift. I think that it would be more personal than buying flowers from a store. Make a little joke to mention that the flowers came from your garden, that way she knows that you dont know what they are but that you strived to make an effort to impress her.
Reply:i know that personally i would find it charming that you even had a garden. maybe you could bring her flowers from your garden and put a ribbon around them instead of in a basket. it will be charming and classy at the same time
Reply:What ever you give her make sure its from the heart. If she really likes you she'll love any present you give her.
Reply:I would do that and bring her a bottle of wine.

I need help figuring out if I need silk or real flowers for my bridal pictures!?

I am having my bridal pictures taken in my hometown. Well actually the town my parents grew up in and where I did most of my growing up. I consider the place I am in now my true hometown. It is where I went to most of highschool at. I am having trouble with my flowers. My florist for the wedding is here and the town where I am taking them is 3 hours away. I have to go down at the begining of the week to take my grandfather to the dr. for surgery and I am staying and helping him and then taking my pictures. So my question is would it be in my best (cheapest) intrest to get silk flowers done there or just a regular flowers? They have great florist there I am just at a loss for what to do. Thanks in advance

I need help figuring out if I need silk or real flowers for my bridal pictures!?
I would call the florist in the town where you're having your bridal photos taken and ask if they could make you a small bouquet for the photoshoot. They should be able to do something cheap and along the lines of your actual bridal bouquet. Then you can compare and choose the cheapest. If you chose the one in the town you are now residing, you can keep a vase of water up front, make sure it's padded and held secure and put a bouquet in it. You can still go the silk route, but if you're having real flowers for the wedding, you may be dissatisfied. Good luck!
Reply:You should just go with silk. Saves having to make sure they stay fresh when you are running here and there. And you can use it as your toss bouquet and then have your real bouquet preserved for memories.

Or you could use the silk on for your keep bouquet and toss the real ones and let them worry about the process of preserving them. Then you can give your silk one to your parents as a memento in a private moment of thanks for the wedding and everything before you leave for the reception. Imagine how proudly displayed it will be next to your lovely wedding photograph.

PS- Tell your grandpa I said to get well soon and to give em all heck.

Wedding Flowers Cost??? Help me wedding florists!!!?

How much are wedding flowers going to run me? We're going with real flowers, and her family is taking care of the bouquet. My family is taking care of the decorative flowers at the church and reception.

I know to see a florist soon, but i'm at work and cant make personal calls while i'm on the clock (but I can ask on the internet....shhh!!!)

We're having a small wedding in July, maybe 125-150 attendees. Generally speaking, not going way too elaborate and staying away from cheap, what's about the average price for flowers for that small of a wedding?

Wedding Flowers Cost??? Help me wedding florists!!!?
I know it sounds wicked weird, but Costco! Go onto there website and click around to floral and then weddings. They have bridal packages for AMAZING prices. Plus, I personally have ordered from them online and they have fantastic flowers. Plus they are a worldwide corporation, if someone screws up, go to a local one and raise hell. Its not like a mom-n-pop place that could take the $$ and run.

I have heard that they do a awesome job. Check it out!!

Congrats and Good Luck!!
Reply:Well it depends what you are looking for. If you want to you can ask for artifical flowers that could save money. But if your looking for a nice arrangement that will look good at the wedding you can make the wedding look good yet not too expensive can be several small arrangements that have carnations and simple yet elegant flowers.
Reply:They will probably run you between $500 and $700.
Reply:If you do just bouqets, corasages and bouts and decorate with things like ferns and columns instead of arrangements you can look between 500-700, (mine are 600, lots of bridesmaids tho, it could potentially be a lot less) if you go with lots of arrangements, you are looking at ussually at least 200 each, maybe 150 for smaller ones, you could be lookin at a lot more, average at the florist I worked for that did lots more decorative flowers was around a grand!
Reply:The only flowers we are going to have are the bouquets and boutineers...we are having an outdoor wedding with plenty of flowers and nature around us and the reception hall we are getting is so big that it would cost me a fortune to put flowers in it...I know for our bouquets(roses %26amp; Sweet pea for mine and roses for the other girls)and The boutineers for the guys corsages for parents/grandparents...they are running me about 300.00

What jewelry can I wear with a dark brown and turquoise dress?

I am going somewhere kinda special, so I don't want to look cheap either. Do I wear Gold or silver jewelry or costume jewelry or what? Thanks, it is appreciated.

My dress is just brown and turquoise, there are no other colors and it comes with a brown sweater with sequins.........

There are turquoise flowers.

What jewelry can I wear with a dark brown and turquoise dress?
Turquiose stones with silver
Reply:costume jewelry that has some turquoise color in it
Reply:I would say definitely silver. Turquoise is such a bright color you can probably get away with jewelry that is fairly large and outspoken, but be sure to wear something that you feel is attractive and appropriate for the occasion. True confidence can be the best accessory to any outfit.
Reply:pearl necklace
Reply:Wear some turquoise medium size beads on a necklace and maybe some earrings. They would look nice with the outfit.
Reply:wear some brown and turquoise bangles
Reply:I would prefer hmm...maybe Jade Jewelry
Reply:dark brown and turqoise jewelry.
Reply:I think silver would look nice.
Reply:Wear white gold or silver. That will look alot better that gold. Also try going with some turquoise jewelry spliced in.
Reply:turquois would be best, after that silver looks really good too-something more on the larger side...good luck
Reply:pearls are best with Turquoise.
Reply:I would wear a fabulous art jewelry piece that you find at high end craft fairs.
Reply:silver and turquoise
Reply:I would wear yellow gold. Brown and turquoise is a strong color combination. You want to keep your jewelry simple and not too matchy. I think thin gold chains around your neck would look nice - various lengths. And some thin gold hoops. That's it.
Reply:I would wear silver and turquoise.
Reply:you can use silver or gold,or mustard color
Reply:Wear a necklace with an opal on it, and dangling earrings with turquoise sequins. That would look really pretty, also include a turquiose handbag.

Good Luck!
Reply:Wear some white golds
Reply:Any piece of jelwery that picks out the turquoise, or silver jewlery works too. You can got too Claires, Bijoux, or any place that sell accesories. There is a store that sell accasories and it is renamed after a shoe company but i cant remember it for the life of me. hope you look hot!!

I bought a mirror stamped with illinois moulding company is this an antique or a piece of cheap junk?

it has flowers on each side along with small shelves inside the mirror, the flowers are moulded gold in color , it has a frame that is detatched from the mirror looks old but sometimes things are made to look old to fool us flea market junkies to make us think we found a treasure..

I bought a mirror stamped with illinois moulding company is this an antique or a piece of cheap junk?
I found a few website referring to "Illinois Moulding Co."

Hope these are helpful for you! Good Luck

We need cheap fundraising ideas!?

Well, we have a problem! Prom is going to cost $45,000! We only have $806! We need to find fundraising ideas that are cheap and give a large chump of change back! Something inventive, not like selling candy or flowers!

We need cheap fundraising ideas!?
Sell home made food, or maybe make cookies and cakes , and have a cake walk , or raffle tickets., car wash , or if you have stuff you want to get rid of, maybe a garage sell. or a yard sell.
Reply:Why aren't you charging? I am from Miami, we are used to paying 100 dollars per couple.

You want to make some killer cash for this soiree, then make friends with local art dealers, and folks that want to donate pieces for a legite Auction.

Host the Auction at the School's gym and see what can come from that...
Reply:Bake sale, Rummage sale, raffle tickets, spaghetti dinner night.
Reply:Think about a couple of alternatives: Everyone donates x number of dollars and lower the cost of your prom!

I've seen classes have car washes on weekends. I've also seen them have crab feeds where they get most of the food donated.

Contact a celebrity, or rock icon, and see if they'll make an appearance (impromptu concert?) at your school, go to the local Chamber of Commerce and see if they can help, find out if some of the benevolent organizations, suchs as the Moose, Shriners, Masons, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, Clampers, etc. would be willing to give money to sponser. Have a wine tasting event, wherein local wineries donate their wines. Charge an overhead and include entertainment. Bring in a celebrity chef to offer a class, donating the proceeds to your cause. The list goes on!
Reply:Go to local companies and ask if they can donate something for silent auction. Local coffee companies can give a pound of coffee and a travel mug, a massage therapist may donate a gift certificate for a free massage, a local restaurant will give a meal voucher and so on. Companies are generally happy to do this. Then hold a silent auction and auction off all the stuff. It won't make you $45k, but $30k isn't out of the question.
Reply:do a sub sell or a car wash even a bake sale after that what ever money you have left to put in divide by the # of students!!
Reply:Have a spaghetti dinner! Sell plates for $5-6 each, and see if you can't get the food donated (be sure to mention donors on a table tent or something). Sell desserts for $1-2 each. Get those donated (bakery and homemade) as well.
Reply:chili or pancake feed.

45K for prom is outrageous.

I vote on giving the money to charity. You can have a lot better memories helping people than by getting drunk and having sex at an obnoxious dance/popularity contest.
Reply:Sell your homemade food, sell your unwanted things, sell things.
Reply:School-wide garage sale?
Reply:Why is prom going to cost $45K? Isn't everyone buying a ticket that attends? Move the prom out of a hotel and to the gym or something. You will never make that knd of money in time.
Reply:bring back the pet rock. or maybe the pet lock of hair. or pet fingernail clipping. or maybe offer pictures of bud and some will think you meant pitchers
Reply:you should do car washes and the girls could babysit. you could also ask for donations
Reply:Do a save the prom drive! Everyone wants to be the prom king or queen, so let them. Do a (modest) fasion show of silly costumes and have people pay to participate and charge for people to vote on the king or queen of the fashion show. They wont be the real king or queen, but they will have a good time and you will get some prom money!
Reply:a bake sale !! always fun
Reply:I realize you said not seeling flowers or candy, but when I was in school we had a carnation sale (you can either get real ones or make them out of tissue paper).

Or you can do the classic car wash...stand at a four way stop with buckets asking for money.

Set up a yard sale (getting people to donate items).

Classic bake sale

Maybe you could get the school administration to work with you by offering student a chance to wear clothes against the policy (if you wear uniforms).

Buy a whole bunch of pizzas and sells them at a $1.50 a slice (most people will let you keep the change)...plus if you talk to a manager at the pizza place they'll probably give you a discount.

Good luck!
Reply:Do a "Kiss a Pig" contest. Basically the idea is to let people vote to see who they would like to see "Kiss a Pig". They vote by money amount - usually pennies. Get people like your principal, several teachers, a coach, a local radio personality, etc, or even students -and basically - whoever has the most "votes" or money has to kiss a pig at the end of the contest. You take their money at the time they vote (this can go on for one day or up to a week). Then at the end of the time - you have everyone there who was in the running - and you announce your winner. Then they have to kiss a pig. (I have done this with a piglet, a pot-bellied pig, a policeman, and also one time with a piggy bank). You will be amazed how much those pennies will add up, especially if you really promote it. And it is funny.

We did this one time at an indoor garage sale we had in the cafeteria. The Kiss a Pig was at the finale of the sale. We set up a "voting booth" and let people place their votes - where were tallied at the end of the day.
Reply:Depending on the number of kids in your class - it's not that outrageous a number if you split it up. Organize a 5 mile walk/run with a raffle. Everyone entered in the walk/run has a chance to win a donated (or purchased) prize. (get a limo company to tux rental or florist or photographer to provide prom night stuff for the winner in exchange for sponsor advertising at the walk/run event. If you get 100 people to walk, each one has to get $450 in sponsorships. You can also try to find someone or some company to match donations. Sneaker companies, sports stores, sports teams, local media (a big one), the local mall, any local big company, photographer, store where kids buy prom supplies or school supplies, places kids go after prom, etd you can think of is a possible donor.
Reply:Bake Sale, Car Wash, Raffles. Have someone donate an item and raffle it off. Have a limited number of tickets and closing date. At the end, draw a ticket to get the winner. My son's class had a car dealership give them a rock bottom price on a nice new car. They raffled tickets for the car, paid for the car and still had plenty of money for the entire senior class to go on a senior trip and have the senior dance. Most people would pay $5 or $10 for a raffle ticket on a new car! What about a rummage sale? Have each student bring items for the sale. Do all of the above. If you have any money left, do something nice for the school. My son's class put new drapes in the auditorium. If you all work toward the goal, you can do it. Have fun!!
Reply:you can have a bakesale, you can have a 50 50 drawing where lets say a ticket cost 2 dollars and 10 people buy a ticket that 20 dollars and some1 wins so then u keep half the money(10$) and the person who win keep 10$
Reply:well, first of all, you could just ask for donations- that'll probably get you a few thou, depending on how many people go to your school. but to get 45,000 you guys are gonna have to do a variety of stuff...and you're gonna need help from most of the people in the school. you could have something like all the students bring in unwanted stuff, and then the school has some some sort of well-advertised garage sale-ish thingy...and there's always, like somebody said, bake sales. they are a great way to get money. you could do something like a car wash, or a "if this teacher/principal/student will -enter slightly irrational idea here- this person will donate -enter amount of money- so you can kinda have fun doing it. other than that though, i dont know what to say. sorry if i didn't help.
Reply:Well what about a Car Wash it can be fun and u can win a chump of money back. If you do bright blue do sunflowers or hot pink gerber daisies.

Ann's bridal has cheap invites.
Reply:Well the invites you can I alway do them yourself try this you can get everthing at Michaels

Buy the paper that's hard they sell them in different colors different desings I got a light yellow and it had lines ingraved I cut the paper in half then buy the white transparent paper put it in your printer add all the things you want to add to you invite (you will be making two invites in one paper) once you print it cut it in half put the transparent paper on top and the hard paper in the bottom buy some ribon and make two small hole in the top of both papers and put the ribbon and make a bow of what ever color you will use for your wedding. You can also buy little charms and have them haging from the ribbon. I made mines like that and came up to 40 bucks for like more than 100 invites with all the supplies included.
Reply:i am doing pool blue dresses for BM's and i am using bright pink and light pink and white flowers. They just pop out and look so pretty with the blue. For invites I used IBKstationary.

I'm looking for a household remedy to get rid of pigeons on my deck?

I have a small deck attached to my apartment, I'm looking for something quick, cheap, easy to keep the pigeons away from sitting on my flowers and in the pot of one of my small trees. I've tried stakes and will put more in, but is there anything else that can be used...something around the house? They are driving me nuts....

I'm looking for a household remedy to get rid of pigeons on my deck?
One of the local grocery stores has fake plastic Owls outside of their store to keep the pigeons away and it seems to work. If you can find a place to buy the owls it would be worth a try. They can't be that much.
Reply:try putting moth balls in a panty hose legs and place them around the flowers and in the tree pot ,pigeons don't like the smell

How should I decorate my first apartment?

I just moved into my very first apartment and really need ideas decorating! I really love the color red and wanted some sort of theme. I don't have much money so the stuff has to be cheap! Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions, links to products would be especially helpful! I was thinking things along the lines of some nice framed art, flowers, some pillows, things like that... Thanks a bunch!

How should I decorate my first apartment?
If it's your very own apartment, and your very first one - away from mum and dad - then do whatever tickles your fancy, and whatever your parents would not have approved of. I am not saying this in a disrespectful way, but it is always good to experience the first flutters of freedom. I am assuming that you are still young, so be adventurous and decorate your apartment in any way you please, without sticking to any rules or regulations. Do it while you can, because once someone moves in with you, or you go into a relationship, then the apartment won't be your own private space anymore and you will have to share space and opinion. Good luck.

Can you dye a darker fabric with a floral print a lighter color?

So... I am getting married in September and found these cheap 120" round linen tablecloths. They are a terrible print but, for the price I am willing to buy them if I can fix them. I am not sure if there is any way of lightening them. If I bleach them they might come out all splotchy. There are 20 of them. They are pretty large. They are beige with burgundy roses some greenery and blue flowers on them. Since my wedding colors are chocolate, dusty rose and ivory..yeah...I need to either get them ivory or just dye them chocolate brown! Which I don't want them brown...cause it's gonna cost alot to buy that much RIT dye! hmmmm...any suggestions on how to get them lighter...technique wise that is??? Did I mention these 20 tablecloths were only $50.00...yeah...see why i'm trying to work with them?? P.S. Wedding's are expensive...ya have to try to save somehow.

Can you dye a darker fabric with a floral print a lighter color?
Forget it. If you try to dye them Everything will come out the color of the dye, some lighter and darker areas where the print is

I'm working on a greenhouse project in school. We want to raise some herbs or flowers to sell in the spring.

This is to include advertising and what to grow and perhaps pricing. The monies will be used for other greenhouse projects that our school doesn't want to give us.What should we do to ensure an eventful sale day?We need creative ways for advertising cheap as we can get and what else?

I'm working on a greenhouse project in school. We want to raise some herbs or flowers to sell in the spring.
In getting the word out - check to see if your community paper has free advertising for schools. Also contact your local newspaper to see if they would feature your school's project.

Next you should make flyers and post them in your local stores. You can also make flyers to post on poles right before the event - they should be near traffic lights so that people can see them (check your local government about any regulations).

Don't forget to put a few in your local libraries, coffeeshops and bookstores.

As to what to grow - fresh herbs are good - early herbs would be oregano, thyme, dill and sage. Basil tends to be later in the season. With regards to flowers - mums, daisies, lillies and so on. You could even try Nasturtium - you can eat them. Check with a local commerical greenhouse as to what grows well in your area. Also don't neglect to make sure the soil you use is in good shape - add lime or mulch to compensate.

On a last note - have you thought about growing vegetables?

Good luck!
Reply:I strongly second the previous suggestion for vegetable starts...be sure they are hardened off or let the customers know (so that they are happy customers for next season/year!).

Easy vegetables for growing in starter packs/pots include: lettuce, mesclun salad mix, kale, swiss chard, and brocolli. Some other plants include fragrant sweet peas and also, as previously suggested, nasturtiums).

I have worked in garden centres and commercial greenhouses and these type of plants are often most popular to the spring gardener. If I knew more about your climate/planting zone I might be able to make more suggestions...

Have fun!

Contact your local super market and ask them if you could post fliers, also go door to door and contact the city you live in. THe best thing is if you have a flea market or perhaps on a corner of a gas station somewhere like thaqt you could sell the things. People love to but fresh! Basit-Cilantro-Parsley (Italian) Chives-

Carnations, petunias, there are many flowers that would sell well. Be prepared. if this takes off you may need to open a shop! Good Luck

How do we rip up six holly bushes without any gardening equipment?

Our house is surrounded by bushes, and we're done with them. What's the best, fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to get rid of those pesky bushes? How do we prepare the soil to plant flowers and stuff. We are very lazy. And cheap.

How do we rip up six holly bushes without any gardening equipment?
A chain and a pickup bumper...for the out. wrap the chain around the trunk of the bush several times then connect to the bumper and S-L-O-W-L-Y pull it out. Tie a rope around the chain about 2' from the bush and have someone hold this in case the chain pulls off the bush so it doesn't wack the back of the truck. They should be holding the rope off to the side at least 10' as the person is pulling the chain with the vehicle.
Reply:Thanks. I appreciate it. Report It

Reply:Maybe your neighbors would like to have the holly bushes and would be willing to dig them up for you.

If I lived near you I would. I like them they help feed the bird in the winter.

..................OR Maybe......................

you could call a nursery that would accept them for digging them up.

When you say your have no equipment do you men no shovels?
Reply:get a chain or rope and tie it to the base of the bush and hook it to your vehicle and then just pull it out real cheap and easy

Ladies, question about getting flowers for my girl on Valentine's Day...?

My question is do I still need to buy her flowers if I already bought her a iPod and spent the time and energy to fill it up with her favorite music. It's not a cheap Nano either, it's the 30gb Video one. I don't really think spending $50+ (they jack up the prices for V-Day) is worth it. Also, let me mention that this is a long-distance relationship so unfortunately I won't be able to see her.

Ladies, question about getting flowers for my girl on Valentine's Day...?
oh thats a tricky one

but yes you do have to get her somehting for V Day

its a girl nessecity

no matter how dumb guys think it is, and we all know you do...

girls love being pampered by this holiday

the i Pod is sweet and u dont have to be super expensive but u should stillget her something

have chocolate, a nice teddy (maybe not BIG), and flowers? delivered to her door!
Reply:How about a single rose? I would like that just as much as a dozen.
Reply:God, man, you are my type of boyfriend.

Screw the flowers, what I want is the expensive electronics - and I think she'd recognise which cost more, and what means more. You filled it with her favourite music too? That's time, and effort. If she doesn't appreciate that, you need to find yourself a new girl.

If you want to make it valentines day-ish, I'd put the iPod in a nice metallic pink box with tissue paper inside, and tie it up with red ribbon. Put a note in there as well!

I think it's a great gift as it is, and not all girls like flowers. You sound like a great boyfriend, and I hope she likes it. :)
Reply:No need. The Ipod is expensive enough and plus flowers only last a week. Save your money.

Long distance relationship?? Doesnt matter...is your girl that high maintence and would throw that in your face?? If think yes, then get her the flowers too!
Reply:You don't have to, it is the thought that counts, but flowers on V-Day tend to give a girl that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
Reply:I wouldn't worry about flowers. If it was me I wouldn't be upset to not get flowers.

Does anybody know how to put together a nice flower arrangement for a wedding?

We ordered flowers from a wholesaler because it way so much cheaper. I don't have any experience with this so please help me!

Does anybody know how to put together a nice flower arrangement for a wedding?
Dont know if you are doing bouquets or table arrangements. If they are bouquets get bouquet holders from Michaels or Walmart..put greenery around the back first, then main flowers..roses or carns, then fill in with babies breath. For table arrangements put oasis (water holding foam type )in container, again put greens in first, then major flowers in a wagon wheel type pattern, then fill in with babies breath or greens or something small
Reply:I put flowers together for two weddings. It depends on what you are looking for. I am not a crafty person but one wedding I was in and I was just trying to get the bride not to have a breakdown. The other was my best friend's wedding and I helped her sister in law (who was a florist). But I did put together the bouquet.

First wedding...unopened roses. white and red. We put five white roses in the middle and surrounded it with red roses...we used wire and wound each one together. Then we used wide white and red ribbon to cover the outside wire and curled it with the scissor. We tied to together the white roses first and then the read onto the outside until we had three rings around. That is a very classy look.

Second wedding. Bride ordered flowers...florist went out of business two days before wedding and would not do wedding (actually I think they went bankrupt). Did give us whatever in stock that we wanted. We filled up two buckets of flowers. We had carnations, baby's breath, roses, etc. Her bridesmaids dresses were dark pink for the maid of honor and light pink for everyone else. We actually went to the dress store and asked them for extra fabric from the dresses (I had to order a size 16 for my chest but my skirt size is 8) we had a lot of fabric from my skirt (plus they took off three four inches from the bottom). Friend's Mom sewed little flower pouches and glued white lace on the outside edges and everything was beatiful. I wish I had pictures.

You can do anything as long as it goes with the event. If it is early day casual, you might want to have litte baskets or just hand tied ribbons on flowers. If it is formal, you want it to be more uniform and tighter. Just look in the bridal magazines and see what you like.

Reply:Well it depends on the color of the wedding and maybe you should go with the color of the brides mades dresses and throe in some lighter colors of the origional color.Or you could maybe go to a person who plants flowers and create gardenings and ask them whatwould go right.

What kind of scrubs or bushes to use for privacy?

I only have about a 3-5inch gap of dirt to use before my fence. My neigbor has his yard full of grass on the other side. I was wanting to plant something there that would grow enough to give privacy. Its ok if some grow on his side too. I want to plant it on my side though. I was wanting to plant them about 10 feet across. Hopefully something cheap! Maybe buy it bulk and baby size is ok as long as its a medium growth rate. Nothing with flowers cause I don't want bee's. Any ideas?

What kind of scrubs or bushes to use for privacy?
How about a Cedar grown as a hedge. Fairly medium growth rate. Also a Juniper would work great too. Both are hardy to almost all zones in N. America so I know they will grow wherever you live. I personally would go with a Cedar because it is not a thorny as a Juniper, but both would work excellent for what you want.
Reply:Don't plant anything, use the aluminum strips that's inserted into the pattern of the fence. It takes time to do, but there's no maintenance required. Depending on how high your fence is, this should give you a lot of privacy, also blocking his plants from growing through the fence.

What are some inexpensive ideas for sprucing up a landscape?

I live in northeast Texas and am searching for some cheap ideas on developing a better landscape for my yard. Besides purple sage and lantana, can anyone suggest any flowers/plants that are really heat tolerant and drought resistant that look nice? Thanks.

What are some inexpensive ideas for sprucing up a landscape?
I live just east of Dallas, and the house I rent has Turks Cap, a tall evergreen shrub that comes back every year

Ladies, question about getting flowers for my girl on Valentine's Day...?
send her 1 pretty fake flower!! that way she will be able to keep it forever!!!!!!
Reply:Me personally, I wouldn't want the flowers but I'm not a high maintenance kind of gal who expects stuff like that. It totally depends on your girlfriend's personality.

Another option would be to not get a dozen roses, but some other type of arrangement. Go to your florist and look at the arrangements with flowers besides roses and see what you think looks pretty. It doesn't have to be huge to be meaningful. A heartfelt letter doesn't hurt either! ( I know you guys hate that stuff)
Reply:Ok, so are you going to send her the ipod? Heres what I think... because I'm in a long distance relationship too. If your not going to see her or be able to give her the ipod for v-day the she is expecting something to arrive at her house.. I don't care who she is! I would send a card! Then surprise her with the ipod later when you see her. But if you are going to ship her the ipod in time for V-day I wouldn't worry about sending anything else.. like flowers or anything else.. she will see the time and energy you spent to fill it up with the songs she likes... what a sweetie!! Great gift!! I would still get a card though!!
Reply:Flowers are always nice. One of the best things is getting flowers at work. BUT not on cliche days like Valentines. It's best when it's for no reason at all. Not only do women love flowers (I don't care what anyone says, we do!), BUT the best feeling is when you get them at work and every woman in the place is seething with jealousy. It may sound lame, but it makes you feel so damn good! LOL I think you're good with just the iPod. And congrats on a really cool gift for your girl.
Reply:if you bought her the ipod for valentines day then no, you do not have to buy her flowers.
Reply:Honestly the ipod was way enough but i think in a few weeks after valentines day you should send some flowers to work so she will feel special and no one else will have any in there office any more.

Good luck
Reply:Forget it!

Send her a card

If you've been seperated for longer than 6 months, the relationships over with anyway- she's just using you for free stuff
Reply:no..but you can pick some roses up at costco for less than $15... or try trader joes. they both have nice flowers for great prices. and remember you don't need to buy roses either. the i-pod is super sweet.
Reply:i don't think that you need to get her flowers as well, that is really up to you. i think that what you did was sweet by filling it up with her favorite music, if you want you can send her one rose with it. i always like the one rose over a dozen.
Reply:YES EVEN THOUGH YOU DONE ALL THAT AND YES ITS GREAT..YOU SHOULD SEND HER FLOWERS TO WORK. EVERYBODY BE GETING THEM AND SHE WOULD LOVE TO ALSO.
Reply:getting flowers for someone is stupid because they just dye with in 2 days and are forgotten about with an i pod it will be used alot and it will last long and she will think of you while listening to her favorite music
Reply:Pick up some cheap flowers at your local store.

Sorry... just read your last part.... nah, dont bother, the ipod is fine.... I hope u dont have one of those internet relationships where you have never even met her... cause man thats a total waste of your money!
Reply:Don't get me wrong .Girls like flowers but that gets old.I believe you done good. But enclose a card.
Reply:I think that you should still get her a rose or two, it would definitely be the cool thing to do. I would appreciate it more anyway, even if it was one rose, or a little flower that you had picked yourself. I think you should send her at least one.
Reply:You don't need flowers if you aren't going to see her. If you showed up at her door without flowers she would be pi$$ed.
Reply:Normally, I would say skip the flowers, but since it's a long distance relationship, a cardboard box from UPS seems a bit cold. There are some better deals online, but you've missed the window of cheaper opportunity (for next year, please note: you can actually order the flowers a month before on the online retailers and hold the January price). Maybe you could contact a florist in her area. Not only will you save on the shipping charge, you may also get nicer flowers than through an online florist.
Reply:Cool gift! :) No flowers needed. Enclose a hand-written note :)
Reply:I think that the i-pod is a great gift! Since it's a long distance relationship, I think that you should send her a small bouquet. Maybe at her job or someplace that is public so she can brag! That really makes us feel special! Good luck with your relationship!
