No flowers on Valentine's Day - Implication?

My bf says I will not receive any flowers on Valentine's Day 'coz too expensive. I don't receive any flowers on other occasions such as birthday/anniversary also 'coz he says flowers are not cheap (not "value for money"). Any views (esp. from gals) on this?

No flowers on Valentine's Day - Implication?
Poor you. :(

Flowers aren't everything, but I don't like the fact that your boyfriend will only look at the monetary value involved.

He should get you flowers at least occasionally for the sole purpose of pleasing you. If he knows you love flowers, he should make the effort for you.

He doesn't need to buy you a florist's rose bouquet, for goodness' sake. Doesn't he know you can get great flowers at supermarkets like Safeway, or even Walmart?

Even a single, romantic stem from a man on a budget is better than nothing. It's the effort, not the gift itself.

Flowers are fleeting, yes, but that is part of why people find them so beautiful.

If his attitude on flowers is mirrored in any other aspects of your relationship, you might want to consider finding someone who will give you gifts from the heart.

Good luck, and I hope this helps! :)
Reply:My dear, if he's too cheap to spring for something special for you on special occasions, put him up for sale and go get yourself a better deal. Capisce?
Reply:Hi!!!

It is true, but also an excuse!!! He could at least give you one red rose!!!

Me personally, I don't like flowers as gifts. They die!!!

Instead a good romantic dinner, then going dancing, few drinks

(moderate), and respect!!!

That will never die!!! On the contrary it will grow and forever be in one's thoughts.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Reply:I am a man that i bought flowers for the first time when i met my wife. So in most guys heads they think that when they buy a women flowers they have decided that they love you with everything they are and more
Reply:All the flowers go about half price the day after, tell him you are willing to wait!!
Reply:Not all flowers are expensive. Tell him that it's not necessary to go to a florist if it's cost prohibitive. Grocery store flowers will do.
Reply:That he is greedy with his money and trying to force his system of beliefs on you.

TAKE THIS BRIGHT FLASHING WARNING and peer imaginatively into your future when he says "I will not buy formula or diapers for our children; just use cloth ones, and breastfeed!"

(I ADVOCATE breastfeeding btw..but thats not our point here)

I think he is just cheap, and considers it an "expensive chore" to give u gifts. All girls (women) love a gift every once in a while; not ALL THE TIME.

NOW! Hear this too~ I do not know his side of the story, for all I know, HE COULD BE PERFECTLY reasonable, perhaps he has a nest egg he's working on for your future (downpayment for your first home together, etc).

I cannot be right either way, because I do not know his good qualities. But IN MY OWN REGRETS (maritally).....I would advise you to atleast CONSIDER the first part of my answer.

GOD BLESS YOU,

keep the communication with your bf open~

if he doesnt give a noble reasonable response for not doing

simple things like getting you flowers ONCE A YEAR, then re-think ANY GOOD future with him.

Good LUCK HONEY!~!

Reply:I ASK my boyfriend not to get me flowers on occasions like Valentine's Day. I think the prices are ridiculous around this time. And, I'd rather get them for no reason... than for him feeling like he MUST just because it's Valentine's Day. It's more thoughtful on random days of the year.
Reply:Flowers bloom and die. You can cheerish them for a few days. My husband and I decided years ago- plants- better then flowers. Not a big plant girl- so other stuff is better too.

I would rather have something that costs 20.00 that I can hang on to forever- then a 125.00 vase of flowers that will hit the trash and leave me with, yet another empty paid for vase, in a week.

But some flower seeds... 1.00 a pack- flowers all summer.

:-)
Reply:Tell your bf that flowers last a few days so he could buy them before the shops jack up the price. Also, he will avoid the crazy line ups of men in survival mode. No flowers = no love.
Reply:i hate valentines day. i dont intend to get flowers from my boyfriend nor celebrate the day itself. i find it flowers are good to put on graves. shorry..ooh and i agree with the girl that said dump the fcuker loll
Reply:flowers are a must.
Reply:Tell him to shop around. I do not know where you are but instead of a florist he could try a bunch from Walmart for $7-10.00. He just needs to look around, but you probably have to tell him that...it is not a mans mentality to shop around and price thing out.
