Decorating the arc for the ceremony: real or fake flowers?

If real, how much extra will it cost? I feel like fake will be easier to pull of bc 1) cheaper and 2) the arc can be prepared way in advance. Can you tell in pics if the flowers are fake?

PS Not a religious ceremony, on-site at reception hall.

Decorating the arc for the ceremony: real or fake flowers?
Fake flowers are cheapers, just to let you know.

I spent a little over $100 for the entire sanctuary decor (including an arch) and over $500 for all the bouquets and such.

A lady at my church had experience arranging flowers so we went to Michaels (or any craft store will work) and found the flowers that I loved but were too expensive real, and she incorporated them in the arch. My colors were red and white, so we mixed those two together.

Here are some pics of our arch.

Hope it helps. Good luck on your wedding
Reply:Fake for something like that.
Reply:I think fake
Reply:Fake all the way no one is going to tell if they are fake. If you go to Micheal's the have some pretty ones and they look so real
Reply:always real! fake flowers are cheap and tacky looking
Reply:I think you should use fake flowers b/c it does involve preparation so once less thing to do the day of. And real ones tend to welt and does show up in pics- not very pretty. At craft stores they sell ivy for the arches it adds a nice touch if the arch is white and then with flowers as accents.

Hope this helps!
Reply:fake that way they wont fall
Reply:Fake flowers are fine, especially in the situation you are talking about. You can have everything decorated way in advance so you don't have to worry about decorating an arch when there are so many other details just before the wedding. If you use real flowers on something like that, if it is hot, they will wilt quickly. Buy good quality though. Some of them are hard to tell from the real ones.
Reply:fake are easier and can look real if you pick out the right ones, however real are much more eligant but it also depends on the temp. if its hot those real flowers are going to wither really quickly, personally id go with some good fakes, take your time and pick out some nice ones, it should save you time and money
Reply:Sometimes you can, it depends upon the flowers used; and, in addition, if you are working with a reliable florist there is and should be no problem as to a fresh flower arc being kept both fresh and alive and well-preserved. I personally find fake flowers of any kind a huge social faux pas, not to mention cold and without feeling.
Reply:1.) I would go with fake, cause then you can use them in your home (bathroom is where mine are like a hanging garden!)

2.) They aren't cheaper, but minimally more expensive.

3.) You can't tell in the pics if the flowers are fake, unless they are an unnatual color and only one color. Stay monochromatic (one color) and vary the hue (little lighter, little darker) to add depth to the composition. May I be bold to suggest white, off white and pale cream, among ivy or other varigated green foliage.
Reply:I had the same problem when I was deciding to make my centerpieces..real or fake? Real flowers are usually more expensive than silk ones, (maintainence), BUT if you get great quality silk ones, they might actually cost the same or even more. So the cost can be the same depending on the quality of the flowers used.

You can tell if the flowers are fake in photographs (most of the time) because of the range of hues and colors that only real flowers show.

I think that if you used high-quality silk flowers, and nobody can tell, why not use them? I am using fake flowers for my centerpieces from Michael's and am saving $650 for doing so..
Reply:Fake - you acn prepare them beforehand and in the picture you will not be able to tell that they are not real.

In fact, they will probably be nicer looking than real flowers from afar. That does depend on the quality of fakes that you get, but over all the effect will be there.

Have a great wedding - everyone will have their eyes on you, silly........not the arch ;-)
Reply:The quality of silk flowers now are very good. For the amount you need to decorating an arch, silk flowers will be cheaper. Also, advantage of making it advance (yourself) versus the day of (likely will need a florist) will not only save you money but STRESS. Because arches are generally in the background, you won't be able to tell they are fake anyway. Even for bouquets - for my brother's wedding, I made the flower girls' pommanders with a mix of real and fake roses, and no one could tell! (I used real flowers for everything else, especially if they would be seen up close).
