I am getting marrried outside and we are keeping everything very small. I love Flowers and Candles.
What are some cheap wedding reception centre piece ideas?
You can get silk flowers fairly cheap at a craft store. For my wedding, we skipped the centerpieces and sprinkled glittery stars in our wedding colors down the center of each table. You can try the Dollar Store for cheap candles though.
Reply:Someone from here gave me my answer to that very question! How about bowls with floating candles on a mirror? You can sprinkle rose petals around the centerpiece to give it a larger presence. This gives you the option of using the candles to tie in your colors too. Doing an idea similar to this has cut my centerpiece budget by two-thirds!
Reply:Plant low teracotta pots with brightly colored flowers that trail over the edges so you dont see the pot and surround them with tea lights. I did something similar at my wedding and everyone loved it. Or take tall glass vases fill 2 inches in the bottom with pretty glass marbles and put 1 or 2 sturdy flowers (roses or calla lillies work well) in it fill with water and top with a floating candle.
Reply:For my wedding we used a mirrored tile and on that we put a small glass bowl, filled it with water and some votives. then we put some rose pedals on the tile and in the water. for each center piece the cost was around 2.00..so not very expensive at all.
Reply:Love the candles!! I would only do that if its not windy, you dont want the candles blowing off. You can also buy little crystal glass bowls and fill them up with clorful rose petals or with any other type of flowers you like and place them in the center of each table. They also have these little cystal glass center pieces of a wedding cake or even of a bride and groom and you can buy different ones and tie balloons to them and place them on each table as well.
Go to theknot.com. They have so many wonderful and beautiful ideas for things like that.
Reply:Do not please do not do the fishbowls! It's a terrible idea - the fish die and then you have floaters on your tables. My friend did this and she was trying to push all the fish (that were still living) off on her friends with children. (She told my kids they could have all the fish they wanted without asking me first! ARGH)
The prettiest and most simple thing I have seen is a tiny round mirror (or any shape you want) in the center of the table with one flower (these were daisys) on it. You could do more than one but it is very classy looking!
Reply:If you have a Christmas Tree Shop around you then they have great centerpieces. We got some weathered looking lanterns for about $2 each and they looked beautiful with tea lights in them. Good luck!
Reply:My friend did fishbowls...Each with 2 goldfish....Then had people take them home if they wanted
Reply:try Orientaltrading.com
they have lots of fake flowers, candles, centerpieces and odd and ends.
Just becareful with Candles- don't want to caught anything on fire.
Also ebay had really nice candles and cheap centerpieces. I think people even sell used ones!!
Reply:To get both flower and candle centerpiece put three pillar candles different sizes on a silver round platter and surround the candles with flowers. I did that for my wedding and it looked wonderful.
Reply:we used a very simple decoration and it looked beautiful, simple, and elegant. we had white tablecloths....provided by the reception hall...we ran a simple gold ribbon down the center of the table (about 2 inches wide smooth, shiny texture) and then set a small gold candle holder with a glass globe on the ribbon... these had a small bit of greenery with little babys breath and the color flower of our wedding....
Reply:You can get "fish bowl" vases cheap at the craft store and have floating candles and flowers in each one.
With an ouside wedding, you definately need your candles protected from any wind. The slightest breeze will blow them out.
Reply:Candles are waaaaay cheaper than flowers. Go with some votives in your wedding colors surrounding a bowl of floating candles and some flower petals. I bought my wedding candles at a local store. (The votives were 30 cents each when I bought more than a dozen of them) (I'm including their URL) Their estore isn't very good, but if you email or call them they can help you. They even offer a professional consultation service for your event if you're really stumped.
Reply:I am doing a mixture of bubble bowls with floating candles and vases w/ flowers and candles around them. It is very pretty and isn't overly expensive. And often you can find a place where you can rent items so it helps on having to buy them all and then having to find something to do with them when its all over. Definitely search theknot.com because it has a lot of pictures and gives tons of ideas. Good luck...my wedding is April 28 and I know every woman out there planning a wedding needs it!

Attention Gardners!!!What flowers should I plant?
I am planting flowers for the first time and I have no idea what to plant. I have two beds to work with. One if full sun and one if part shade.I really would like them to bloom as long as possible. I live in Ohio. I was thinking about flats of Petunia's or Pansies...something along those lines. Also, I bought some bulbs that I have yet to plant, like Freesia and a few others, could I plant those now? I need cheap and easy if possible...I can't wait to have a garden of my own. Thanks.
Attention Gardners!!!What flowers should I plant?
Unless you really like planting every year, stick to perennials. There are so many plants that it's impossible to advise you. My preferences might not be yours. You can do contrasting garden colors or do color themes. You might like a garden with just a few types of plants or you might want a specimen garden with one or two of many plants. It's all up to you. Probably the best thing to do is to visit any place that sells magazines and look for the annual garden issues. They have great ideas and in some cases, even plans that you can follow. As far as your bulbs go, plant them in the fall - they need to over-winter in order to bloom the next season. Which, by the way, brings to mind something you might like to try to keep your garden colors year round. Bulbs can be kept indoors in pots so you can enjoy the blooms in the winter. After they bloom and the blossoms die, cut them back and put them outside in the cold for a couple of weeks, then bring them back in. They will re-bloom. Good luck and most of all, have fun!!
Reply:for your sun garden.. petunias or zinnias should be easy.
you can do begonias in the part shade.
When you plant. be sure to get a little container of osmocote or nutricote fertilizer ( you can even buy this stuff at wal-mart). it's a controlled release feeder that will help keep the flowers perky and happy all summer. After all that, spread 3" of bark mulch around the plants.. you will have an easy, inexpensive and pretty flower gardens.
Good Luck!
Reply:I think that pansies and petunias require some more care. They grow long and need to be trimmed.
I prefer maragolds and geraniums for the full sun, they are very easy to care for. For part shade begonias and impatiens are good.
Reply:Are you wanting something that you will have to plant every year (annual), or something that will come back (perrenial)? I live in northwest Ohio and I have tons of Hostas (big green leafy with stalky flowers) Coral bells (various shade of leaves with spikey flowers) Columbine (really cool looking flowers on a green plant) and Astilbe (red leaves, pink spiked flowers). All of these are perrenials. For annuals I get Dreams petunias and Gerbera Daisey's and plant them here and there for immediate splashes of color. Most bulbs are to be planted in the fall. I don't know where you live for sure, but go to your local garden center (I prefer real garden centers over Lowe's, Home Depot etc. kid of store) and simply tell them what side of the house you will be planting on, how many hours of direct sun the area gets, and if you want annuals or perrenials. I love my gardens. I also do veggies and strawberries! As for cheap and easy-petunias do not get any cheaper or easier! You can just about neglect them all summer long and they will keep blooming as long as they have a little rain! Tell the people at the garden center that you have a budget as well. Good luck-enjoy the beauty!

Cost of flowers??
I want to do gerbera daisies for my June wedding. Where do gerbers sit cost wise? Are they a cheaper flower? More expensive?
Cost of flowers??
It probably depends a bit on your location...but I have been a special event floral designer for years, and Gerbera Daisies have always cost more than Roses in the midwest....about 1.6% more than a Single Rose.....some florists even charge a bit more because a Gerbera requires a bit more work than a Rose when preparing it to go into a bouquet....Also, just be aware that using all Gerbera Daisies, in a bouquet where the flowers sit right up against each other, you do get a bit of a golf ball texture effect, since each of the centers are just a hair lower than the petals and the flower itself is extremely flat....also Gerberas cannot be touched and mishandled, because the petal tip that holds it to the center is minute and fragile...and if not handled carefully by the people carrying them, can shed their petals easily....
Good luck with the wedding and the marriage....
Reply:if you can do the flowers yourself or have someone arrange them for you, you can order on sams club for much cheaper!

Unexpensive fresh flowers. I need help in Conroe, TX area.?
Our wedding is this weekend. I want to know how can I get just flowers if possible cheaper without them doing the arrangement. I've been calling places and they are extremely high and we don't have enough time to drive to houston. Does anyone know of place around 1960 the woodlands or someplace like that? Please help me!!! Thank you
Unexpensive fresh flowers. I need help in Conroe, TX area.?
Try your local chain supermarket. Most have a nice floral department and if you are not having them arranged, you can usually save quite a bit of money. I would order them ASAP and tell them when you want to pick them up so you get the freshest they can get in by then.
Reply:Go Cowboys!!
Have you talked to anyone at Walmart? They buy huge quantities and might give you a price break. good luck
Reply:Hi Susanatex. have you tried going out loop 336 toward Porter? I think there are some small, rose growers out that way...with this lite frost we've had it might be difficult to get anything fresh this late in the game...Maybe check the florists @ the larger supermarkets in The Woodlands/Conroe and see if they might have something that they could cut their pricing on for you. Good Luck and many happy years...with or without the fresh flowers!

Where can i order flowers online for the CHEAPEST?
SOMETHING CHRISTMASSY UNDER$30
Where can i order flowers online for the CHEAPEST?
please not 800 flowers they take about 30% of the cost right off the top.
Local is always best unless you are having flowers delivered to someone in another state.
If that is the case you can look up a local florist for that person's are in yellowbook.com.
My online cheepest was proflowers
Reply:Any Florist will gladly, take your order! F.T.D. etc! Under $30.00, GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Your best bet is to go to your local florist, and explain your budget. They will be able to get you the most for your money, and if you need to send it somewhere, they can do that for you also. Support your local businesses. Besides, you never know what you are going to get online. It might not be what you pay for.
Some local florists are online, try that first. Look in your phone book, sometimes they have a website listed.
Reply:I don't know where you are from that would help a bit.. .Check out some online sites like 1-800 flowers.. If you or someone you know has an ENTERTAINMENT BOOK there are money saver codes in the back of the book it can save you quite a bit of money.... Or look for "coupon" codes online..
Good luck

Where can i find wholesalers for jewelry findings and beads? or a cheap place?
Not sure about the kind of jewelry findings you look for. I'm using silver and gold findings and highly recommend Pasternak Findings: http://www.pasternakfindings.com
Good luck!

Fire Mountain Gems is a great source, though perhaps not wholesale.
Oriental Traders--ditto, tho quality isn't quite up to Fire Mountain
Skip the internet searches; pick up a beaders' magazine like BeadStyle or Bead %26amp; Button. A number of the ads inside say they are wholesale. Never checked them myself, as my work is much more small-scale.
Reply:Try searching for "wholesale" at http://craftbeads.craftingathome.com

Where to get cheap flower girl dress?
try ebay, my wife just got some really good deals on flower girl dresses and she did her research for about a month, and found this ebay store to have a good reputation. You have to be patient though since they are in China and internatonal shipping takes like 6 weeks sometimes, plus when you win a bid on a dress you like then you have to get the measuments to them since the dresses are custom made.

Reply:There are lots of great ideas for inexpensive flower girl dresses. I am sure lots of people will tell you to look on ebay or give you websites that they like but here are some other ideas to keep in mind. The flower girl's dress does not have to look like any of the adult dresses- it can be totally different! Because of this you can either make a simple dress, buy a regular dress at a department store or wait for the big sales at the wedding dress boutiques. My aunt's wedding color was mainly navy blue but the flower girl wore a white dress with navy blue polka dots and it was adorable she still coordinated with the wedding party but looked like a little girl.

Where is the cheapest and best place to buy flowers? nursery. walmart, lowes or home depot?
Price, Its had to beat the big chains. Quality and selection, go pay the little extra for nursery stock.
Problems and questions, unless your interested in who they went out w/last week (as that is all they know at Wall-Mart) go ask the guy that feeds his kids' working in the trade. Ask the experts at the nursery.
Where is the cheapest and best place to buy flowers? nursery. walmart, lowes or home depot?
Wal Mart cheapest, but you need to buy them the day that the nursery truck delivers, cause they quickly look sick. Lowes is more expensive, but you have a year guarantee on the plant. (to get your money back on a dead plant, you have to have original container and receipt, plus take the dead plant back, also) A nursery is the best place for great advice and help with selections for your area. Hope this helps.
Reply:Nursery! They order plant varieties that thrive "in your area." The mega boxes just order "stuff"- some of which is NOT viable in your local soil! Nurseries have professionals to answer questions. They know their plant stuff. The mega boxes, well... Minimum wage people are probably not up to par. Buying price alone is generally a mistake. (By the way, my local nursery sells better quality plants CHEAPER than the "always the low price, always" store!)
Reply:My choice would be Walmart because they always sell for less then their other competitors.
Reply:This is a hard question Cheap and best are not the same thing.
Nursery plants are usually well cared for. The employees
can usually answer any garden related question you have. which plants will thrive in your area because of local weather conditions, soil and insect problems. what soil mix you should put down in your garden bed. etc.
Nursery prices will depend on their cost of business, where you are, what they grow themselves and what they ship in from elsewhere.
Lowes and Home depot are about even in price and quality.
they usually have at least one employee around who can answer a question or two. but no one really knowledgeable
the quality of their plants depends on who the buyer for their regional store is.
Wal-mart can be cheap but the quality of their plants can be very poor. The employees are useless. So you have to know what you are looking at when you shop there. I find their plants are often root bound and sometimes suffering root rot from over watering or in trouble from under watering. on the other hand they often have some good bargains. I bought some tomato plants on sale the other day for $1.50 these were the same as the ones Wal-mart was selling for $5.00 only they were growing sideways instead of straight having been "damaged" during shipping.
Reply:Actually, I've found the best prices at local farmer's markets. They also seem to last longer.

What does everyone think of silk flowers for a wedding are they really cheaper??
I think they're tacky - sorry
What does everyone think of silk flowers for a wedding are they really cheaper??
Silk flowers have come a LONG way in the past few years. They are beautiful if you get the high-end ones. However, because they are so much nicer these days, they aren't really all that much cheaper anymore. Sometimes a single rose stem could cost as much as $6-$9.
But you can also purchase fully-made bouquets at craft stores that are very nice. Some are quite plain and designed to be the base of a bouquet where you add some special touches on your own with ribbon, additional flowers or greenery.
However, if you watch for sales and shop with coupons, you can find some bargains. Micheal's and JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby all have great floral departments and often have flowers for 50% off. Otherwise, they almost always have a coupon in the newspaper for 40% off any single item.
Plan what you need well in advance and purchase flowers slowly as they are on sale or when you have a coupon.
One of the main benefits of using silk flowers is that you'll be able to assemble them several months ahead of your wedding day and you can get one more thing crossed off your list early.
Good luck!
Pam
Reply:They are cheaper, another alternative is wooden flowers, they look so real, no one will be able to tell they aren't! Check out www.bergodesigns.com or www.woodyaflowers.com for pictures and examples, and it you use them, tell them Sarah from www.lovewithnoboundaries.com referred you. Best wishes!
Reply:Kelly dear, I would not have them at my funeral ,let alone my big day...........spend some more and buy real flowers. If you want to keep them you could have them dried and will last you a life time.
Reply:I think they are fine to have, if that's what you want. They can be cheaper, but there are also very high end ones!
I just think it's lovely to have fresh flowers at such a special occasion as a wedding.
Reply:Funny - it's probably the only detail I actually care that much about. Real flowers always look better!
The more realistic-looking silk flowers can be almost as expensive as real ones - and they still don't look as nice. If you want to save money on flowers, you can have a simple elegant boquet and center pieces consisting of just a few flowers. For instance, your centerpieces could be single red roses in vases. Your boquet could be a couple of roses or orchids. Lovely, elegant, simple, and not obscenely expensive.
Reply:I had silks at my wedding and they came out beautifully and di not look cheap at all.
I had my bouquet makde of silks and you can't even tell it's silk.
Check this site out, I have seen a lot of their work and it looks so real you have to touch it to believe it, and it's reasonalby priced too.
Good luck!
Reply:well they are. I just got married but I got mine from a famers market and they were beautifl and real!
I love real flowers can not to the fake silk ones... no way...tacky as hell!
Reply:We just used silk flowers for my sister's wedding and they turned out gorgeous. We did everything in silk except for the mother's corsages...they ARE cheaper %26amp; nowdays can look just as elegant as real ones. Look online, many companies will offer to mail you free samples of petals and such.
Good luck, Lynn
Reply:Maybe a littel cheaper.Silk would be fine for everyone except the bride. She needs to have a beautiful fresh flower bouquet. The one she tosses can be silk.
Reply:The silk flower that most people think about do look cheap, but there are really nice and realistic silk flower that very expensive and will last a lot longer then real flower, i guess it depends on what you want to spend.
Reply:i like the silk flowers. they have improved quite a bit from the past. they are cheaper at some places. they do last if that is what you are mainly looking for.
Reply:Actually they can be more expensive, but on the upside, they LAST! You will be able to look at them and smile for a very long time!
Reply:Maybe they are cheaper. But I think that the flowers will lose some of their charm. They won't smell...and they look fake.
Personally, I'd rather use inexpensive real flowers than any silk flowers.
Reply:The quality of silk flowers has come a long way in the past several years. I've seen some bouquets that I would have not believed were silk until I actually touched them. You will find that using good quality silks can be just as expensive as real flowers. It is just whatever you prefer.
Reply:YES, they are cheaper, and it's totally up to you. Some people swear by real flowers, and couldn't imagine deigning to have silk flowers at a wedding, but then they just die, and something as momentous as your bouquet is shriveled mess. So, it's all about what you want.
You could always save money on the big arrangements, by doing silk for centerpieces, or a huge bouquet on stage for the ceremony.....and put out the money for smaller things like bouteniers %26amp; bouquets.
Reply:I think fresh flowers are prettier, but it's YOUR wedding, you have to be happy with your choices and what fits in your budget.
Reply:Silk/ fake flowers have come a long way. Sure some look obviously fake while others can easily be mistaken for real. It will really depend on which type of flower you go with, which colors, and how they are arranged. You can find them on sale a lot of times at places like Pat Catans or Joann Fabrics Right now they have a huge sale on all their summer and spring silk flowers so they are at least 70% off.
On the other hand real flowers can be a HUGE expense in a wedding budget. It again depends on the flower you pick and how they are arranged. I've seen some really nice bouquets with just a couple of flowers or even one for the brides maids. I think the key is to get real flowers in season.
When it comes down to it it is a personal preference and both can be amazing and reasonable. Be practical remember less is more and keep it simple! You can do a lot on a little with the right choices! :-) Happy flower shopping!
Reply:I was going to use silk flowers for my wedding in september however i learned of different wholesale flower websites and I am paying about 550 dollars for myself my 6 bridesmaids and my 12 centerpieces. Its really worth it to look into those websites. You have to put the arragements together but i've practiced and it looks great. Just use some creativity and you'll be fine. I used www.growersbox.com. Their customer service is really great and helpful.
Reply:It depends. If you get nice, high-quality silk flowers they can look lovely and can do things you can't always do with real flowers. But the good silks cost just as much as the real ones. The cheap silks tend to look very fake.

Reply:I just got married July 14th and used fake flowers and they turned out beautiful, and nobody could tell they were fake, and they were a lot cheaper than the real ones.
Reply:Silk flowers are cheaper and more practical. Actually, I don't understand why people would buy real flowers nowadays! They're soooo much more expensive and they're just going to die anyway! Just think, with silk flowers, you can keep your bouquet forever and ever! Don't listen to people who say they look tacky. Half the time, people can't really tell. Good luck!
Reply:I think I should start by saying it depends on where you get your silks. I agree with some opinions that picking up a bunch of silks from the dollar store that scream "FAKE" from across the room is tacky. However, there are really great fakes at places like Garden Ridge that you can't even tell are fakes until you touch them.
As far as if silks are cheaper, that depends on a number of factors. My wedding is in Fall and there are not many flowers in season at that time (I am not a rose fan) in my wedding colors so any real flowers I wanted would have to be hot house grown and imported from somewhere.....very expensive. If you are having a spring wedding there are tons of flowers in season (not to mention using a gorgeous live flowering plant and letting guests take them home for their gardens) so you have a better chance at getting fresh flowers within your budget. If you are into exotics like Calla lillies silks are almost always going to be cheaper.
Another thing to consider when deciding silks vs. fresh is:
*some people have allergies to real flowers (like my HTB)
*if you aren't careful and choose many fragrant flowers the smell can get overpowering
*real flowers can wilt depending on the conditions of your location
*if you are having an outdoor wedding real flowers can attract bees
For my wedding we have some amazing quality silks for the reception centerpices and the boutineers. We will have real flowers for all the boquets....If I had a bigger budget I would have liked fresh but given hubby's allergies silks were definately best.
Reply:I personally thought they looked cheaper. I went to the local craft stores and looked around, held flowers together and it just didn't look good enough. I'm not going to get all done up in my beautiful dress and veil just to hold craft store flowers.
there are online businesses that arrange flowers for weddings. I checked them out and wasn't impressed by their arrangements.
in the end, I decided to go with real flowers, but really limited what we got. we just got my bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets, that was it. it cost $400. no one noticed that the guys didn't have boutonnières and the moms didn't have corsages. and we used candles for the centerpieces at the reception. our church had lovely flowers left over from the Sunday before and we just left those up.
so I say get real flowers, but just stick to the stuff people will notice, and skip the flowers no one cares about. you really just need your bouquet, even if the bridesmaids aren't carrying flowers, who cares? or just have them carry a really small bouquets.
Reply:My sister got married last spring and asked me to find her inexpensive flowers for her bridal bouquet, ceremony decor and reception decor. I found www.afloral.com. We found a beautiful white gardenia wedding garland that we were able to hang across the ceiling of the reception hall because it was so cheap. They also had bouquets for all the girls in the ceremony flowers for the pews including clips to hang the flowers, white roses which we placed in julep cups and placed around the church. We ended up spending around $500 for a ton of flowers. My aunt even thought we spent over $10,000 for our wedding decorations and offered to help with the cost. She was blown away by the fact that in total for decorations we spent less than a $1000. The wedding was great. She thanks me for finding the site every time we sit in her family room and look at the flowers displayed on her fireplace mantel.

Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration?
I have a calla lily themed wedding. I found these beautiful silk calla lilies bushes that are going to be on a stand with ivy leaves hanging off the bottoms to decorate the church. The arrangements look beautiful and real....not cheap at all.
Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration?
I used artificial flowers at my wedding and no one could tell the difference until they touched them. I have terrible allergies and I was not going to go though the day with allergy eyes in all of the photographs.
I think especially at a church, they will look beautiful. You might even think about donating some of the decorations to the church so they can be used by someone who might not be able to afford the decorations or lilies can be used at Easter time.
Reply:They're not tacky at all. We used all silk flowers for the decorations and bouquets. (real roses on a pedestal for a 'grandparent(s) 'memorial)...My flowers turned out absolutely beautiful and I still have my bouquet (it's in my hutch). I couldn't bare having a beautiful bouquet cost hundreds of dollars that would die 5 days later. Seemed a waste of money to me. We used hydrangeas, roses, chrysanthemums, greenery.
Also made silk flower centerpieces and had pillar candles in the middle.
Reply:Nope, I personally used a mix of silks and real florals in my wedding. Many of my guests took the silks home. My husband and I didn't even get to keep a centerpiece from our wedding, my family swiped them all.
Silks last forever. You can always put them into different arrangements later on and you'll always have a piece of your special day at home.
Reply:I AM DOING THE SAME!!!!!! Lol, I love calla lillies but cannot afford the real ones, so I am getting false ones instead. Where are you getting them from? In a way it can be better because you get to keep them all - I know my sister was devastated when her bouquet died. But with a false one, they are the same forever! And you dont have to worry about them wilting or peope being allergic! Good luck :) and please let me know where you plan to get them from, it might be better than my place!! (ps mine is http://www.sarahsflowers.co.uk/bridesmai... and there are loads more than that one, just search throughout!!)

I did mine in artificial flowers and that way my bouquet lasted forever ( I didn't throw it - a non-traditional wedding)
Enjoy your special day !!

White Vinigar.Spray it on stubborn weeds in your lawn, sidewalks,or flower beds.It starts to work as soon as it dries and shrivles up weeds in 15 to 30 minutes. The wild life and your pets will thank you for not useing chemicals.Don't get it on plants you like because it will work on them too. Try it and see for your self.I'll never use Round Up again.

How much do flowers usually cost on Grafton Street? I'm wondering if they're cheaper in the stores...?
It depends on the variety of flowers and the shop.

You could also find some fresh flowers at reasonable prices from here: http://www.arenaflowers.com/flowers/pric...
Reply:Flowers on grafton street usually cost between 15-45 euros. I think its about 15 for 6 roses, and 20/25 for a medium sized buch.
Reply:Just purely on the fact that the sellers on Grafton street dont have to meet any overheads such as shop rental bills I would presume this would also affect the flower price and they would be cheaper

Moles??? The kind that up root you flowers and grass?? How do you get rid of them??
These things are making me so mad!! I Just planted all new flowers in my flower bed and a mole has gotten in there and up rooted everything!!!! How do i get rid of them the cheapest way or any way?? I just figure there is some kind of home remedy or whatever????
Moles??? The kind that up root you flowers and grass?? How do you get rid of them??
I have heard it all. Egg shells, chewing gum, banana peelings, flooding, peppers, human hair, Soap and bacon grease, humane urine, chemical pellets and even smoke. Sorry, but it’s all worthless. You’re going to have to get rid of them and do so aggressively. For best and quickest results, use the spring traps (I saw some at Wall-Mart last week). Place them over the "runs" that you see thought your yard. Then the moles go through, it triggers the trap and you'll have one. Be sure to re-set the trap for another.
Poison peanuts/wheat also work, but results are slower. These are made by the W. R. Sweeney Company. I have also, if you have the time, walk on the mound that is left when they dig %26amp; just wait. Soon, you will see them going through the tunnel by raising the dirt again. Quickly dig them up w/a shovel. You have to move fast to get them this way. Odds are good; you won't be able to kill them fast enough.
Until you solve the real problem, you will continue to have moles. They are in you garden, and will soon be in your yard because there is an abundance of Grubs there. Just like another animal, they have selected your yard for the abundance of food there. You can treat your yard with a Bayer product, GrubX. It is a granular product that spreads on the lawn much like you would spread fertilizer. A product that has Bifenthrin, sometimes called Talstar as an active ingredient in it will also work well. Another possibility is to add nematodes to your Garden/yard. The nematodes can be found at most of your Mom and Pop garden centers, and feed on Grubs. Another product many people have had success with (myself included) is Milky Spore. To treat the lawn, just put a spoon full at 3 foot by 3 foot. Milky Spore lasts for many years. Understand, it will only kill the grub in its larva stage and will not harm the existing grubs. These are much more organic approaches, but as is normally the case with organic solutions, results will be slower. Rid your Garden/yard of the Grubs and your mole problem will not be resurfacing.
Reply:You need to kill the insects in your soil. Mainly grubs. Get some kind of treatment for your lawn you may have to ask what is safe for your flowers. The moles are there because there is something to eat.
Reply:I get many moles in the winter. I leave them alone and collect their mole hills for the greenhouse. In the summer I want them out and the only effective remedy is a mole trap which takes some skill in setting. It must be set in a run but covered so that no light gets in. Once you have caught a mole any others seem is disappear - at least for a while. Gas tablets rarely seem to work and are dangerous to humans. Things that make a noise simply move them to another place in the garden.

Reply:I have used Mole Traps, Juicy-Fruit, Poison peanuts, rice, moth balls, eggshells....none of it worked.
I finally got rid of the moles after treating my lawn and garden for grubs.
Good Luck.
Reply:Get a mole trap. You can probably get one at home depot.
Reply:Being in the Landscaping Business, and a lover of my own yard...get mole plants.I have many extras if you can't find them. They really work !!!It's not always about keeeping the bugs etc. out of your yard, because I give my yard regular feedings of all kinds, and still had them ...they also feed on plant roots.

Best place to buy plants and flowers?
which place would be cheaper for perennial plants home deop/lowes, a nursery, or an online store or somewhere else?
Best place to buy plants and flowers?
It depends... Watch the ads. Do u want 1 QT pots, 2 gallon pots, or just the little 6 packs of baby plants?? If u got a true green thumb, try growing stuff from seed packets... I don't have a green thumb, so I go with the biggest pot of plant that I like. Menards usually has good deals, but u cannot go wrong with Wal-Mart!!! They may not have the variety that u want, but their plants all come from the same wholesalers that the Nurseries get theirs from... U just gotta get there when the truck arrives, because the only difference is that once the plants are off the truck, nursery employees take better care and are more knowledgeable about the plants than low-paid Wal-Mart employees. (Not ripping on them, but if I was paid that low, I wouldn't really care either)... Oh, and at Wal-Mart, if your plant dies, u can bring it back with the receipt and get a full refund!!!! How good is that?? That is the only place I know of that will refund u if u kill your plants!!! Yeah, go with Wal-Mart!!
Reply:Bunnings Warehouse is a cheap way to buy plants and flowers. Just goto the Garden Section in your local store.
Reply:Local growers. No extra for advertising, huge overhead, shipping, and union employees.
Reply:go to Lowes because my mom bought an apple tree with blooms on it all green and everything for only $15.00

Flowers for weddings?
what is the cheapest flowers, when buying per stem for a wedding, besides silk - I would like gerber daisies, roses, and peonies.
Flowers for weddings?
I think daisies would be the cheapest flowers
Reply:It all depends on what time of year you're going to have you're wedding.Sometimes flowers are cheaper during the winter. because not alot of people buy flowers during the winter. people get flowers mostly during the summer and spring and they always get them on Valentines day. Valentines day is a big time of the year for flowers.and there expensive during that time. best of luck. flowers are more expensive during the Holidays like Christmas, thanksgiving,Valentines day and mothers day are the most busiest times of they year that people are getting flowers and there not as cheap
Reply:Carnations and Dasies are generally the cheapest flower.
If you are looking for stems to do your own flowers check this site out.

Reply:Depends on where you live %26amp; the time of year.
Reply:The time of year is a major consideration in pricing of flowers. Definitely check if your flower is in season when determining cost.
Carnations are often not that much cheaper than other flowers when used in respect to a wedding.
You may want to check out your local Sam's Club, as they do wedding packages for much less than a regular florist. Also grocery store florists too.
You must let the florist know your budget right off, if they are not willing to work with you, then you do not want to book them

Ideas for cheap garden lawn edging please?
We have quite a large garden with curvy flower beds. We have just laid weed suppressent fabric and Bark but need a lawn edging. Any ideas for cheap, unusual or recycled lawn edgings please
Ideas for cheap garden lawn edging please?
Old bricks. If you lay them at the same depth at the lawn, you can run one mower wheel on the bricks so that you cut right up to the edge of the grass. Plants can tumble onto the brick edging without creating dead patches in the grass. Put the bricks end on to the flower bed to make the edging the full length of the brick.
Reply:Log roll edge is a cheap edging solution about 7 euro for 6ft by 2ft long lasting and pressure treated.
Reply:Homebase, B%26amp;Q and Dobbies all do a cheap green plastic corrogated edging product.
I use this to keep a neat edge between the lawn and beds and after planting I fill the beds with bark. If you let the grass grow over it very slightly it is not visible, and keeps a sharp edge without ever having to re-shape it. If you don't use a hover mower, you will probably have to use edging scissors to keep it neat.
I used to use fabric too, but I don't think it's worth it. It makes the soil all flat and stale (I even got big fungus growing from underneath it), it also looks bad when it shows through. I think it's better just to put bark straight onto the soil, if you use enough bark this suppresses most weeds except the occasional few.
Reply:I wouldn't bother, just make the edges neat with a spade or a half moon cutter and keep the grass clipped neatly with edging shears, as if you put border edging in, you can't mow right up to the edge, so you will have to strim to cut the remaining grass, and by strimming you tend to ruin the edging strips and use up lots of strimmer line.

Are web sites the cheapest way to buy flowers?
FTD and other sites add on a $11 fee. so like the 30 dollar flower arangment ends up 42 dollars. is that still the best bet when looking for flowers.
Are web sites the cheapest way to buy flowers?
Not at all. That $11 (and up) fee is just a service fee they are charging you to take the order. On top of that you must pay delivery and if they don't state that then it is coming out of the price of your flowers. Actually, your 30 dollar flower arrangement could end up more like 20 or less in flowers.
The best and cheapest way to buy flowers is to find a local florist in your area. That way the only additional cost you will pay is delivery and tax.
Best Wishes!

Where can i buy some cheaper plants/flower in los angeles area??
my landlord require all of us tenant to decorate our balcony now i need some cheaper plants or flower to put there....where can i buy it??? pls help???
Where can i buy some cheaper plants/flower in los angeles area??
Go to Kmart or Walmart. Both stores have a garden center and they'll have a selection of annuals or perennials that won't cost too much money so you can spiff up your balcony without breaking the bank.
Reply:Lowes, HomeDepot, etc have darn good prices when compared to nurseries.......usually...but watch for sales!
Watch paper or other publications for plant sales at city arboretums, botanic gardens, garden center (not commercial...the garden club centers) also farmer's markets and flea markets often have people selling plants. Containers can be buckets if you get drainage holes into them. Cluster more decroative smaller pots around the big uglies.
You might have to learn a bit about plants to find those that take less water than others......otherwise you'll be spending all your time watering your pretty plants.
Reply:I like Home Depot. They have a great selection and they usually have experts there to help you choose.

How to make sugar flowers from scratch.?
i've seen hand-made lilies, roses and gerberras. they look really gorgeous, but they're not cheap. any ideas on how to make them from scratch?
How to make sugar flowers from scratch.?
Yeah, those edible flowers are very popular right now. Based on most recipes just start out with your average fondant (basic same recipe anywhere online). It's like play dough.
Making them take some creativity. If that doesnt scare you away I suggest trying to make paper flowers first (with tissue paper, crepe paper, whatever). I say that because based on the instructions I know on how to make them, it all depends on how good you are with your hands. One of the most well known cake shops that are famous for those sugar flowers make them with tools they made themselves (=improv. using spoons, paper round sides of bowls, etc) You dont' have to buy the fancy molds and kits. but if you do want to here's a site to teach you how to make roses http://www.cakejournal.com/2007/05/how-t...
I make paper flowers in my spare time (one petal at a time), and quite honestly i haven't ventured to making sugar flowers but the instructions for them are just about the same. I hope that helps.
Reply:I have no idea but here's something simple you can do with edible flowers on your own and the results are fantastic. Be sure the flowers are not treated with ANY chemical or pesticide.
Separate an egg white from the yolk and beat the white up until slightly bubbly, to break it down. in a shallow cake pan or pie tin pour out 1/2 cup super fine confectioners sugar, NOT powdered sugar. With a small paint brush, lightly paint the flower with the egg white, being sure to get all the petals. Place the flower into the pile of sugar and gently sift more sugar over the flower until well coated. Gently shake the excess sugar from the flower and place into a warm oven (150 degrees F.) for 1 to 3 hours depending on the flower.
I do this with Pansies, Roses, and other edible flowers and is stunning on a cake! What you are thinking of takes many months or years of practice and It's a special recipe just for sugar sculptures, which I do not know.I hope this will help.

Where can i find cheap flower dresses in Sacramento, CA?
I need two matching flower girl dresses ASAP that don't cost a lot (under $50 each), I've shopped at places like Marshalls, JC Penney, etc., but if I find something, there is usually only one dress in the size I need, not two.
Where can i find cheap flower dresses in Sacramento, CA?
If you find one you like at marshalls in the area, you can have them call one of the other surrounding area stores to see if they have it there to hold. With so many subdivisions in sac, they should be able to accomidate. Also, Pennys does have a website and they can ship next day, so if there is a dress u find, check the website and type in the code from the tag and see if it comes up.
Reply:I know this is closed, but there is also a booth in the middle of Arden Fair Mall that sells really cute flower girl dresses. It's downstairs near Nordstroms. Report It

Reply:Try www.justthebeginnings.com. Was recently a bridesmaid in Feb and we found three matching dresses for $60.00 apiece. Not sure if they have childrens sizes but it doesn't hurt to look.

I am trying to find the cheapest place to get my flowers but I still want them to be nice. I saw this place and it looks great but I am still kinda scared to order flowers that I can't see. Any help would be great.

Can a guy give flowers too much? What if your sick of it can u tell him to stop being so cheap?
LOL!! YEAH! Been there! When he sees them in the trash, he gets the picture! LOL! Okay, so you are nicer than I am ....just tell him to save his money for dates or that you are allergic to many flowers and can't have them in the house....Good luck!
PS - The only ones I ever threw away were from a guy who sent me 4 dozen a day!! It was WAY out of control!
Can a guy give flowers too much? What if your sick of it can u tell him to stop being so cheap?
Sure. I think he is giving you only flowers because he doesn't know what else to get you. He just wants to make you happy. You should give him suggestions, because some guys are not very good at picking up hints.
Have a nice day :-)
Reply:You see that he's in a rut. It's a little control issue that he announces his claim on you. My girlfriend got so tired of the flowers that she left orders to either give them away or throw them in the trash until I noted this. He's stating that he cares for you more than you are responding.
She had a serious talk and wrote down the places or things she wanted from him. Like, Jay Leno, shopping trips on his dates. He liked them to pick out something to remember him by. So if you pick out too expensive then he buys it and shy away from you. If you pick out cute but dumb, he knows that about you. Yes, the flowers are boring access to you. He'd better liven up.

How can I make my house smell like a garden of flowers?
I want to know a cheap way to keep my house smelling good (like a garden) with out buying all those exspensive plug in air freshners and candles?
How can I make my house smell like a garden of flowers?
I think your question pretty much answers it for you: flowering plants absorb smells and, particularly when they are flowering, release fragrant and relaxing smells.
Plants will also brighten the appearance of your house, add fresh oxygen (through photosynthesis) and even lift your mood!
Plants aren't that expensive, especially at this time of year (fall) when most garden centres are trying to get rid of their stock. The first website below gives great advice on fragrant plants and the second has advice on how to care for them. It's not difficult just a few minutes every few days to water and turn your plants.
Good luck!
Reply:CLEAN WITH FABULOUS IT HAS A FRESH LAVENDER SMELL THAT LASTS FOR HOURS
Reply:I open my windows for at least 20 - 30 minutes each day. I find that keeping them closed all of the time makes the air smell "stale". Toxins also build up in your house, so you need the fresh air to keep it smelling frsh and clean! : )
As far as smelling like FLOWERS.. : )
Nothing can beat this:
Bath and Body Works [White Barn Candle Co.]
Room Sprays : )
They are very potent [you only need 1 -2 sprays],
smell great [they have about 20 different scents], and inexpensive! : )
Here is the link!

You can smell all 20+ scents in person, if you go to the store at the mall! : )

Reply:make your own potporie. that's what i do and it works well. Take dried rose leaves, a cinommon stick and some scented oil (some perfumes are like this) pour a little of the oil on the leaves and cinommon sticks, shake it all up and put it in a dark corner for about a day, then you can display it nicely on a table or something, and it smells pretty good.
You could also use incense (it's like ten cents a stick at long's) the only problem with that one is that it can irritate your skin.
Good luck!

But we usually put some of them in our house, in different rooms

Reply:Well, I had my wedding at Bridgewater's duck pond. They have a beautiful gazebo there, and all the ducks/geese wandering around really makes a beautiful background. I believe it cost $700 to reserve the place, with $400 returned to you, as long as you left the place clean %26amp; undamaged.
It's over on Mason Rd. off of Clay Rd. Not sure if you ever been that way, it's a bit on the line between Houston %26amp; Katy, TX.
Reply:i would try like a state park or something, something where you can rent a small area, something like that, or you could look a little out of your area for places.
EDIT: you could also decorate your house, and the backyard you could make a little alter type thing with flowers on it, you can go to the garden part of a hobby store to get some fake flowers and get something for you guys to stand under and decorate that, you can also decorate the fence if flowers, set up white chairs, etc.

What do you do to an phalaenopsis orchid after it has bloomed for the season and the flowers have fallen off?
I have a beautiful 2 stemmed orchid that kept it's blooms for about 3 1/2 months. The last 3 blooms are getting reasy to fall off and I want to know what you are supposed to do to the stems in order for the orchid to rebloom next season. I have a book on orchids and it says trim the stems but it is VERY vague as to what part of the stem or how much. I lost 3 orchids 3 years ago after I moved into my new home, I bought them to put in the home and bought the boook at the same time. They were beautiful for a long time, but they have not bloomed since the first year I had them. Can anyone help me out? I hate to lose this one, it was not a bit cheap.
What do you do to an phalaenopsis orchid after it has bloomed for the season and the flowers have fallen off?
If the stem is still green and not drying out and turning yellow,
don't cut it off. Keep the bark moist (I usually put mine under
a soft spray of lukewarm water for a couple of minutes)
Give them a bit of orchid food every couple of weeks, if the plant is healthy they sometimes start to develop buds
on the green stems (I had a couple that re bloomed that way)
If the stem does die back , keep maintaining the plant,
they will produce some new leaves and if they are happy, they
will bloom again.

What is the cheapest wedding flower?
I'm on a tight bugdget. My fiance and I are getting married when I get out of college. (A few weeks later). He is in the Army so our income won't be that large. I want a small wedding with cheap flowers and cheap decor. Basically...I just want a happy day with having to goto the court house! HELP?
What is the cheapest wedding flower?
Probably carnations. Here in NY we have a lot of places where they sell 2 dozen roses for 10 bucks or so, they don't last long but you'd only need them to last a day if you have places like that where you are. You can usually get extra branches of leaves and /or baby's breath very cheaply and sometimes even free.
Depending on where you are, there may be public spaces where wildflowers grow and it's ok to pick them. Call on the bridesmaids or the kids in the family to help with this. Wildflowers make great and different arrangements for weddings.
If you or someone you know has a large enough set of clear bowls, you can get away with halfway filling the bowl with water and floating the head of one very large flower on the water and using that as a center piece. You'd be able to get away with one flower per table! A can of cheap spray on glitter, very lightly sprayed on each flower will make them sparkle in candle light.
Also consider flower alternatives. Inexpensive florist's vases filled with fruit, or xmas ornaments (think non xmas-y ones like plain satin or metallic balls)...those should be insanely cheap now. Martha stewart often sprays real fruit or vegetables with spray on glue and dips them in glitter and the results are spectacular. Ask around among family and friends if they have any unused clear florist's vases laying around...just about everyone has at least one of those and having different shapes on your tables will make things interesting. They'll probably be glad to get rid of them too.
Decorate your tables with inexpensive votive candles or tea lights. If you have an IKEA near you, they have a package of about 80 of them for about 5 dollars. You'll need glass containers to put the candles in for safety reasons and IKEA has these as well. Make sure the top of the container is at least 2 inches above the tip of the flame and put at least 1/2 an inch of water in the bottom of each container before you put the candle in.
This will help prevent fire accidents and make the containers easier to clean if the wax melts into them.
IKEA also has a lot of other inexpensive decorative items that may be helpful. You can find similar things in dollar stores too.
You should be able to find tablecloths, napkins, decorative ribbons, etc at dollar stores too. When going on the cheap, the less ornate your items are (no patterns on the tablecloths, etc), the classier the decor will look. Choose a tasteful colour scheme and stick with it. Stay away from paper streamers. They're overdone at birthday parties and can be a fire hazard with lights and candles. Also stay away from things that say "wedding" or have any kind of wording on them.
For the champagne glasses for the bride and groom, get a plain pair of flutes from the dollar store, a few small flowers, and some florist's tape (my florist gives it to me free, you may be able to get it free too) Surround the stem of the flute with the flowers, stems hanging down to the base of the glass and the flowers just clustering around the bottom of the bowl of the glass and wrap florist's tape around the stem, securing the flowers until you've covered the whole stem of the glasses. I did this with very small silk flowers for my cousin's wedding and she still has the glasses (though she got rid of the husband YEARS ago!).
Remember, everything looks better in dimmed light so make sure you have the ability to dim room lights.
And a last hint, get family and friends to help as much as they can and become good at delegating tasks so you don't go nuts when the day arrives.
Reply:Alstroemeria Lily, Baby's Breath, Carnation, Chrysanthemum, Daisy, Freesia, Gladiolus, Queen Anne's Lace, Sunflower, Sweet William, all are great and cheap. Also, look to those that are local and in season - it really ups the price when they have to be shipped in. Time of year can affect prices too... Pick some varieties you like, then try to find out when they're in season %26amp; where they're from, etc. Local nurseries can be a great source too. Or, try getting married in a garden. You'll save a bundle, trust me! Also:
-Try finding a non-professional baker for the cake, or even taking lessons yourself. You can get many supplies at Ben Franklin or even Wal-Mart.
-Buffets are cheaper than sit-down dinners. Cash bars are cheaper than open ones. No bar is cheapest of all, %26amp; believe me, they'll survive.
-Live bands = expensive. And also, alot of times, they kind of suck. A DJ can run you a few hundred, but 5 disc changer strategically hidden with burned compilation discs (CHECK FOR SKIPS THE DAY OF THE WEDDING), is about a few dollars.

They were out of season mind you, but I still managed to decorate and have fresh flowers for less than $200. I purchased 100 stems from The Netherlands. THey were shipped overnight and arrived the day before the wedding. I arranged them myself so that saved me money too. If you are interested the website is www.growingtulips.com
Reply:Carnations are the cheapest, and if you "bunch" them together tightly they look like large beautiful peonies for much less.

Reply:Carnations are nice and inexpensive... and you can have any color you want
Reply:We found that alstroemeria was pretty inexpensive. They're much prettier than carnations (IMHO) and come in lots of colors. We used them in the bouquet and boutennieres.

Reply:Carnations are the cheapest.....and they come in any color you want.
If you want to say it with flowers, does giving a single rose say, " I'm cheap."?
doesn't say you're cheap but it's been done and done and done again
think of something original
are you handing it to her or having it delivered.
if you're handing it to her keep it simple...
maybe a small bouquet of daisy's with some angels breath
don't try to impress her, try to take make her go awwww.
if they're being delivered do just the opposite.... impress.
perhaps a dozen oversized red roses in a bouquet of two dozen white carnations. think.... original!!!!
if you don't have the money, and she knows it, don't be wasteful either. If she's worth the time she'll understand. do something small but thoughtful.
good luck !

Yes, it is cheap !!!
Reply:A single rose is as romantic as a dozen. And with a card or a handwritten note, even better!
Reply:It says you have heart to me ;o)
Reply:No, a single rose is not cheap. It is the thought and meaning behind it that counts. Best of luck.
Reply:Absolutelt not!!! If I receive a single rose i know that person really cares for me and it is real.
Reply:yes give her a tulip .... it looks like a vagina ... when it spreads open
Reply:I'd say you already know the answer, or you wouldn't be asking this question. If this is for an anniversary, one is just not going to cut it, so to speak. I personally think the magic number is a dozen roses, because that just oozes love and devotion. She will tell her girl friends you gave her a dozen roses, and they will be green with envy, wishing their man was so romantic. Believe me, if she likes flowers, a dozen roses, and she is going to melt.
Reply:Not if you think of something sweet and poetic to say.
Reply:no....sometimes a single beautiful Rose speaks volumes
Reply:No not at all it just means that you are romantic. Trust me.
Reply:Not if the rose is followed by a romantic evening,
Reply:Giving a rose says "I'm cheap and completely unable to get you anything that resembles my sincerity." Say it with a bouquet of wild/tropical flowers or a weekend roadtrip. Or jewelry...expensive jewelry.
Reply:nope... one rose speaks loudly..♥
Reply:Only if you buy it at a circle K ,wawa, or quikcheck.

Reply:nope... you only need one rose to symbolize what it represents. giving more will just make it lose its meaning

Does anyone know how i can get flowers delivered weekly in melbourne?
i want to get my mum a voucher or something so that she can get a bunch of flowers every week for a while, i don't know how long. the only thing is all the sites i've found on the internet are really expensive! does anyone know a good cheap site or florist in melbourne that could deliver flowers weekly?
Does anyone know how i can get flowers delivered weekly in melbourne?
Go and see your local florist, and ask them to do you a deal. They will, I promise, especially for something special. Most of their orders are 'one offs', so they will be delighted to help you with it.
I did the same thing for my husband many years ago, I had them deliver one red rose per week for ten weeks to his job. One rose for every anniversary. The last rose was actually a bunch of ten, and was delivered on the day of our anniversary.
I had not included a card with any of the roses, and he was really puzzled where they had come from.
I rang him during the day to wish him a Happy Anniversary, and he'd forgotten. He came home and gave me a bunch of ten red roses!!! I have never let him forget it, it was so funny.
By the way, I live in Adelaide.

What flowers bloom in November?
I am getting married in November of this year. I want to have an idea before I meet with the florist what flowers are in season in this time of year since I know they will be cheaper.
What flowers bloom in November?
Japanese Maple Flowers
Reply:As florists import flowers from all over the world, season pretty much doesn't matter any more. In November, it is Spring in South America, where many of the cut flowers in the US come from. If you want locally grown US flowers, you are pretty much at the end of the chrysanthemum season, but there should still be some available.
Reply:Ask your florist what will be available. S/he will know what you can most easily get in your location. Also florists have completely different things available than if you had to rely on what is growing outside. It could even be growing well outside, but not be available from a florist.
Reply:Mums are still blooming in November in most places, and they would be pretty in wedding arrangements.
Reply:mums, snapdragons, very early camellias, pansies
Reply:gardenias can be in bloom as well as pansis and mums.
also some fhorsinthias

Who sells the cheapest, but decent flowers in medford, oregon for a wedding??
i am getting married, and like most, need to save as much money on things as possible. where in medford can i find a good deAL?? thanks!!!
Who sells the cheapest, but decent flowers in medford, oregon for a wedding??
You are in luck, I am from Medford... I got married two years ago in Jacksonville in a ballroom on top of the US Bank...
Okay...hands down Central Point Florist does the best wedding bouquets, etc. but they are pricey. They always deliver exactly what you want when you want it.
I ordered roses from www.bigrose.com. You can get 250 roses for $199. They have all colors and you order in bunches of ten I think, so you can essentially get as many colors as you want. They ship over night and are absolutely beautiful when they arrive. You just need to follow the directions they have online as to how to prepare them, and even directions for some bouquet designs.
If you know someone who can make the arrangements for you this is great. And even if you don't, you can buy the green tape and pins at Michael's Crafts out by Costco and wrap them yourself, its quite easy. My suggestion is to go to Costco and buy one of their bundles of roses and practice beforehand.
Another place you can by bulk flowers is out by Winco (the old K-Mart). If you are facing WInco, the old strip mall on the right side that has the asian market in it, there is a flower shop there..I don't remember the name. Anyways, you can order filler there and other bulk flowers to make stuff from yourself.
Other than that I am not familiar with any of the other florists in town. But if you do the bigrose order and have someone you know do it yourself, you will have a ton left over to put in vases, etc. for center pieces. We had over 100 left over for our wedding in vases all over the ballroom. If you order flowers from a florist and have them do it, it will be between $600-$1200 for basic stuff.
Good luck, and feel free to contact me if you need anymore info. I rented from Party Place, etc.
Reply:You can always ask for the seasonal days like Winter, summer, fall, and spring. Also look for the ones that are last years or oldish but not that old! You can always tell by that by squeezing softly on the stem and if its soft, its oldish. If its firm, its new. That will cost more on your budget. If your looking for roses, the stems are not hollow so you have to press on the side of the petals. To see if its oldish or not. Firm is new. Oldish is... oldish (: Hope that helps.

What's cheaper for wedding flowers - silk or real?
Hi....It all depends!
If you want the real good quality silks...they are as much as fresh flowers. I used to work at Michael's craft store and some of their good quality roses were $4 and that is what I paid for real ones!
You can also buy fresh flowers wholesale or at places like Walmart or Costco and have someone make up your bouquets.
Many brides like the silks as they can keep them....but trust me...you are not going to want to look at your bouquet for the rest of your lifetime.
Personally, I like fresh even if it 3 roses tied together with a silk ribbon. Yes, they die....but what do you do with a whole basket of silks after the wedding (bouquets and centerpieces.)
Check around in YOUR area to price silk verses fresh. Also get a quote from a couple of florists. It doesn't cost to go into a florist for a consultation and get a quote.
What's cheaper for wedding flowers - silk or real?
In general, real flowers are cheaper unless you are getting something exotic (tropical flowers) or naturally expensive (callas, stephanotis, etc). You can find inexpensive silks that are under $1/stem but they aren't going to be high quality and will obviously look fake, even from a distance. "High quality" silks like you find at Michaels, etc are more expensive than most fresh flowers. It depends on the look you're going for.
Reply:It depends on the quality of flowers. There are alot of websites where you can by bulk real flowers for cheaper then silk flowers. That is what I am going to do for my wedding.
Reply:Your going to pay a lot more for real flowers for sure. So I would have to say the silk flowers would be cheaper.
Reply:Silk is cheaper but i hate silk, so we got real for our wedding flowers. they look GORGEOUS and smell so pretty!!! you can tell a difference in pictures also but that is my personal thoughts.
also, i think silk looks fake and tacky. i understand the thought of saving money by using silk but to me a wedding to be pulled off elegant is the use of fresh flowers. this is one thing i would not skimp on when it come sto budgeting. you need to go to a florist and give her ideas what you want. they will work up a pricelist and then you can modify. mine was so cheap we ended up adding more!!!! just stay away from the costly flowers and you will be quite surprised!!!!
Reply:Silk are cheaper but please don't do silk!!!!!
If you are concerned about money then minimize the flowers but keep it classy with real flowers.
Put one beautiful flower per table. Find an exotic flower that you love and carry only several of them with you down the isle and the same for your bridemaids.
I would rather see less real beautiful flowers then a ton of silk ones that look cheap and everyone will know are fake.
Reply:I had silk flowers for my wedding. I found it was cheaper and easier to work with since they didn't have to be refrigerated. Also, I got to keep them forever.
Reply:Silk. You can get them well in advance to prevent any wedding day screw ups, they don't need refrigeration, and you don't have to get your bouquet preserved.
Reply:When I looked at flowers, I found that really nice silk flowers (that I thought looked just as good as real flowers) were more expensive than real ones. Maybe I am just old fashioned, I think it is tacky to use fake flowers.
Reply:Nice silk flowers aren't cheap. Real ones can be affordable if you pick right. Pick one nice flower and use it in a solid monocromatic bouquet. Christmas use evergreen and red berries and a couple flowers, spring use a bouquet of a single color of tulips, summer garber daisies. Sometimes less is more and I think that can appy to flowers. And you can keep real flowers - dry them out in silica, which is found at craft stores.
Reply:It depends on the quality of the silk flowers you're purchasing as PPs mentioned. The more realistic the silk flowers are and the higher quality, the more expensive. Be sure to do a little test to make sure the silk flowers you use don't bleed if they get wet if you do end up using silk. There are commercial dust repellent sprays you can get if your flowers get dusty if you make it up in advance. Some florists will even do custom silk arrangements -- all depends on what you want.
Reply:Probably silk.

Reply:silk flowers for sure. I had silk flowers at mine and this way you can keep them forever.
Reply:silk flowers are much cheaper
Reply:Silk flowers are definitely cheaper and so much easier to work with. They won't stain your dress in any way and they can look very real. I got mine from http://www.wedideas.com and they are gorgeous! Another thing is that you can use these flowers and then keep the bouquet and donate the rest to charity and claim them on your taxes. You could also find a young couple in your family perhaps that is also getting married and see if they would want to use your flowers.
No one in my family has ever used real flowers and all of the decorations AND pictures have always been gorgeous.
Reply:I'm making them myself and at Sam's club I found125 white roses for $87 so that was a lot cheaper than anything else I saw and I don't mind making them myself and saving the money.
Reply:Silk are definatly cheaper. But in my opinion nothing compares to real flowers, always there is something about silk flowers that you can tell that they are fake.
Reply:I'm using silk - much cheaper and easier to manage. I was worried they would look tacky, but if you pick the right ones and put them together well.....you can't even tell!
Try www.afloral.com. That's where I got mine. Order one stem each of the ones you like first as a test bunch, to see what they look like in real life, then order the rest later.
I tried Hobby Lobby and Michaels, but the realistic look just wasn't there.
It takes a weight off my shoulders knowing that my arrangements are already done, and they look beautiful!
Have fun!
Reply:I suggest silk flower because that will not die!if you pick the real one the flower can die!
Reply:Silk flowers are definitely much cheaper flowers for a wedding and can look just as beautiful as the real ones. It depends on where you get them and what they look like. So far my fiancee and I paid $35 for all of ours and we plan to get more so it will probably cost us $75 altogether by the time we are done for the flowers for the wedding.
