What kind of flowers are very low maintenance? And inexpensive?

I am looking for flowers to plant around the outside of my house but,, to be blunt, I kill everything! lol So I need something I can just plant, and not have to deal with. The areas that I'm looking at get a alot of sun with partial shade. They also need to be cheap! and something that I can plant now.

Nasturtiums are easy to grow and easy to maintain. Direct sow them in the ground and water them. They take the heat and dry soil. Nice green foliage with yellow and orange flowers that grow well into October. Plant them as soon as the ground is warm,.

Reply:The flower is spelled "impatiens" and if you google it as "picture of impatiens" then it will show you. They are usually ones that come back, year after year, if you let them go to seed, will be in bloom now if you get a flat of them, love water--don't require a lot of it, for the root system is shallow,


and since they are rather tender...are not dog-proof! They are one of the few that can get LARGE and if one stem breaks off and falls over, you can get it, put it in water and often it will root! Then you can plant it!!!


Price will depend on the size of the area you need to cover, seeds will work, but they take a lot longer for results, and often ony 5% in a packet is expected to sprout!

Loosen up your soil first and plant them with wet roots, soak them in water before you put them in the ground and be sure to gently tamp the earth down to fill air pockets, air dries out the roots, and that is a cause of them not doing well. The roots need moisture, the tops need sun and shade!

Reply:Impatients...I have been planting them for years and years with good luck. They like partial shade and shade. They come in all colors and will last from May until November here in Northern Virginia. I also lived on the Florida panhandle for 15 years and use to plant them there and they did great. They usually are pretty inexpensive and you can get them at places like home depot, lowes and wal mart. Wal Mart usually has the best prices! They are one of the few plants that survive my gardening skills year after year.
Reply:Perrenials, such as daffodils, tulips - all the ones that come from bulbs. It is too late, this year for these.





Nasturtium is beautiful and grow easily, but need to be planted every year. They are quite low-maintenance, though and can be planted right away. They should bloom all summer. Marigolds is another low-maintenance option.
Reply:lilly's do not require alot of care you just plant the bulb in the ground and watch it grow.that's what i would recommend for you get bulbs if your going to plant anything they are the easiest.
