Silk or real flowers for prom boutonniere?

I was looking on the internet on how to make a boutonniere, and the site I found said to use silk flowers. So, should I use a silk flower or real one? Because it seems to me that a fake flower would just seem sort of cheap or something. Either way works for me though.

Silk or real flowers for prom boutonniere?
i would have liked mine to be silk. Just think you can keep it after. Silk flowers look just as nice as real ones a lot of the time you cant even tell there not real..
Reply:if you can find a silk flower you like as well as a fake, use it...it will serve for sentimental value b/c it will last forever...but if you don't want to keep it, a real one is not going to be any more expensive than a silk one. Either way though, make sure it's not nicer than the one you get your date ;)
Reply:fake ones...

because sooner or later in the night it's going to start dooping and become wrinkled and you don't want that. But get the realistic looking ones.
Reply:actually I'm pretty sure a silk boutonniere would be more expensive. i think a real flower should be better because that's what is tradition to get.
Reply:REAL, Silk usually looks fake.
Reply:Real looks so much better I have seen the silk ones and i dont think they look that nice
Reply:I say real. That's what everyone used at my prom but that was 2001. Good luck!!! And have fun @ the prom :)
