What is the cheapest way to have flowers at a wedding?

We have a small party - 50 guests - at a church. We'd like a flower crown for me, a bouquet, flowers on the tables and possibly on the cake.





How can we do these things inexpensively?

Buy them from wholesale flower markets. Choose hardy flowers that don't need a lot of upkeep (e.g. roses) if you want to go for less hardy flowers you're probably best to go to a florist because if you do them yourself they may just end up wilting.


For the tables- just put the fresh flowers in vases.


Often when you buy the cake the baker will do the decorating for you (including flowers) so I'd check with them first. If not choose sugar or silk flowers or ones without pollen so that it doesn't fall on the cake.


As for the crown- you may be better off spending a little more on this to get it done by a florist. Unless you know what you're doing or you have a friend that knows what they are doing.
Reply:I had thirty guests at my wedding. We purchased all the flowers at our local wholesale club (BJ's / Sam's / Costco). The seller had fresh roses come in everyday in an array of colors at $7 a dozen. We picked them up 2 days in advance and put them in buckets of water in a nice cool environment (the basement), but didn't cut the bottoms of the stems until the morning of the ceremony so the flowers wouldn't drink too much water and open up too much. We made a natural looking bouquet by wrapping the stems with 2 inch wide cream colored wired ribbon (finished with a bow), and leaving the bottom of the stems visible.





I would also go to a florist for the flower crown - the flowers suitable for them could be delicate (like daisies) and by the time you get the flowers to practice making one and then make the actual crown, you could probably buy one. You could also use paper flowers (not silk) from a craft store for your crown and/or the cake. The flowers aren't too large and they come with wire "stems" so you can wrap them very easily into a crown, or wrap them onto a large hair comb or headband (we found the perfect piece online) and are actually very pretty.
Reply:If you haven't decided on the date of the wedding yet, plan for it to be close to a holiday. Since the church is decorated with flowers anyway around holidays, so you only have to buy a bit of flowers. I think the flowers on the cake should just be fake.

Reply:We got all of ours at Albertson's. The florist there even made the table arrangements and bouquets. I don't know about the flower crown though.
Reply:Shop for them yourself. Dont be afraid to use some fake ones where you dont need real ones and look at wholesale shops. They do add up I know I have been there..
