Planning on getting married next Nov. and I'm on a very tight budget. Do you think it would cost more if I got roses at a local store or at the flower district?
Thanks!
Is it cheaper to buy flowers at a local flower store or the flower district in los angeles?
Definitely the flower district LA. I was going to do that but I found such a great florist and he's coming to set everything up himself, decorate the arch, he's decorating my cake, arranging centerpieces. But, if I had a friend to do it or could do it myself, I would go flower district all the way! Not even in comparison to the local shops. Remember, the shops are full retail. The flower district has some of the most beautiful and fresh flowers available.
Edit: forgot the link just in case you need info or phone numbers.

Reply:the flower district!!!!! i live in indiana and wished so badly we had one here in town! i would have save lots of money for my wedding this june!
the only problem is buying from them, you have to make your own arrangements while at a flower shop they will do that for you. hopefully you have someone in your family or friends that will help arrange the roses in bouquets and etc for you.
Reply:You will not only save money you will have a better selection if you go downtown. I love it there...in Los Angeles.

What is the cheapest and pretties flowers you can buy to fill a pretty big garden?
Cosmos and bachelor buttons grown from seed - a packet of each will cost about a dollar and you can save the seeds each year and never have to buy again.

I second the marigold vote. They are easy to grow...even from seed. Just follow the instructions on the back of the packet and they come up and grow quickly and look great.
Reply:MARIGOLDS IN THE DOLLAR STORE GO FOR 10 FOR A DOLLAR AND SNAPDRAGONS AND WILD FLOWERS TOO
Reply:if i had your mailing address i could send you plenty of seeds..i collect all the seeds i can get my hands on every year for some unknown reason
also all the seeds i have, these annuals reseed themselves and i am moving towards perennials...lol..i just gave away a bunch of seedlings and seeds and still have tons left
Reply:I just got a bunch of geraniums and they were pretty inexpensive. .89/plant. Also, impatience and vincas are pretty inexpensive. You could also get seeds. That's really cheap! Look at the package. Many don't take long to grow. Some take a year (my daisies and dalea's that I planted last spring are blooming now).
Reply:seeds are the way to get the cheapest flowers but they take much longer and not alway bloom. Buy some flowering perennial so you will most likly not have to plant next year.

Where can i get flowers online. cheap?
can you tell me or give me a link please hoping for mom for v-day :)
Where can i get flowers online. cheap?
Order some tissue paper and look up a rose folding origami website. That would definitely be the cheapest! And your mom would be so impressed that you folded paper flowers for her. They'd last longer than real flowers anyway.
Try this YouTube video on how to fold one:

If it's too difficult you can just crumple paper and twist the end - it'll look pretty anyway!

What is the cheapest way to have flowers at a wedding?
We have a small party - 50 guests - at a church. We'd like a flower crown for me, a bouquet, flowers on the tables and possibly on the cake.
How can we do these things inexpensively?
What is the cheapest way to have flowers at a wedding?
Buy them from wholesale flower markets. Choose hardy flowers that don't need a lot of upkeep (e.g. roses) if you want to go for less hardy flowers you're probably best to go to a florist because if you do them yourself they may just end up wilting.
For the tables- just put the fresh flowers in vases.
Often when you buy the cake the baker will do the decorating for you (including flowers) so I'd check with them first. If not choose sugar or silk flowers or ones without pollen so that it doesn't fall on the cake.
As for the crown- you may be better off spending a little more on this to get it done by a florist. Unless you know what you're doing or you have a friend that knows what they are doing.
Reply:I had thirty guests at my wedding. We purchased all the flowers at our local wholesale club (BJ's / Sam's / Costco). The seller had fresh roses come in everyday in an array of colors at $7 a dozen. We picked them up 2 days in advance and put them in buckets of water in a nice cool environment (the basement), but didn't cut the bottoms of the stems until the morning of the ceremony so the flowers wouldn't drink too much water and open up too much. We made a natural looking bouquet by wrapping the stems with 2 inch wide cream colored wired ribbon (finished with a bow), and leaving the bottom of the stems visible.
I would also go to a florist for the flower crown - the flowers suitable for them could be delicate (like daisies) and by the time you get the flowers to practice making one and then make the actual crown, you could probably buy one. You could also use paper flowers (not silk) from a craft store for your crown and/or the cake. The flowers aren't too large and they come with wire "stems" so you can wrap them very easily into a crown, or wrap them onto a large hair comb or headband (we found the perfect piece online) and are actually very pretty.
Reply:If you haven't decided on the date of the wedding yet, plan for it to be close to a holiday. Since the church is decorated with flowers anyway around holidays, so you only have to buy a bit of flowers. I think the flowers on the cake should just be fake.
Reply:Consider silk flowers.

Reply:Shop for them yourself. Dont be afraid to use some fake ones where you dont need real ones and look at wholesale shops. They do add up I know I have been there..
Reply:Visit a cemetery and take your pick.

Any cheap ideas for outdoor deck decor?
My mom's birthday is on the weekend and I was thinking that for part of her present I'd try to give the deck a little makeover. Right now there's not much of anything except an okay little table and matching chairs, some lawn chairs and ugly white plastic side tables. Anybody have any low-cost ideas on how to improve it a bit? Like some cheap plants or flowers (nothing very smelly b/c she could get allergic) or other accessories.... Did I mention the word "cheap" enough? LOL I'm broke at the moment. I plan to only spend about 20-25 dollars and hope to get a few things at the dollar store. What would make the biggest impact for the littlest cost?
Any cheap ideas for outdoor deck decor?
Looks like you are in for a little do it yourself project. Go to the fabric store and make her seat cushions for her chairs. You can do this for very cheap (under $5 or $10 depending on size). Make sure you get fabric from the scraps bins, they are discounted. Don't be afraid to mix and match colors and shades. Next, go to Home Depot (or your local nursery) and explain your financial pinch and see if they have any outdoor plants that are maybe slightly damaged or the only one left so they can give it to you at a discounted price. Same goes for a pot. They usually have something chipped that they can give you at a discount. Look around at garage sales too. You may find it is cheaper to go to the dollar store and get silk flowers. You should be able to get a few things put together with your remaining money. Now, for a finishing touch, clean everything on your mom's patio. Clean the furniture, and the patio itself. Make it look brand new. Top everything off with some glasses (her's of course) of nice lemonade (or her fav drink) on her newly refurbished patio for you and her to enjoy some quality time together which is the greatest gift of all.
Reply:to get the answer to this try watching curb appeal on HGTV it is on daily. even one episode should get your creative juices flowing. good luck with your project and it is a truly outstanding gift.

What is a reliable online gardening store where I can buy really cheap Impatient (Snapweed) flower seeds?
Or what are some other really easy flowers that I can keep indoors with little sun? They need to be really easy to maintain because I've never grown flowers before.
What is a reliable online gardening store where I can buy really cheap Impatient (Snapweed) flower seeds?
www.parkseed.com
I buy seeds from them for 4 years now. Good customer service, always answer my emails.
Maybe you can buy african violets from your local nursery or Home Depot/ Lowes. They are easy to maintain just water from the bottom and never let the leaves wet.
Reply:Here are a couple of great sites I've used.
Dutch Gardens
ParkSeed
Gurney's Seed %26amp; Nursery
Spring Hill Nursery
White Flower Farm
Wayside Gardens
Yardiac (don't know if they carry impatients)
I'd recommend Park Seed. Plus they're offering a great deal right now. You can get a Lily Collection if you buy $50 in stuff. That might not fit in though with your request for "cheap". :-)
Do you do a lot of gardening purchase online or other purchases online? I do and I actually get rewards for shopping online like cash back and gift cards. It might be worth looking into if you are going to be shopping online anyway - especially for gardening stuff. There are tons of rewards sites out there. I use Memolink.com. They have quite a few gardening sites as well.
Good luck. Hope you find what you need.
Reply:well, you might be able to find them in any hardware store, nursery or garden center- they are very common in seed racks. sometimes you can even find them in the grocery store.
begonias are very easy to grow they come as a *tuber* that you just put in the soil and set in a window. and they're beautiful, too
- check burpee.com - i order form them all the time - they're good

How do you grow a cheap yet beautiful flower garden?
i would love to grow a garden at this time of year but i dont want to spend alot of money on it.I dont know whether its better to buy seeds or actual flowers to plant.i think it would be nice to put a white fence around it for a sense of privacy.Tell me what you think.I would also like a good estimate for the price too.Could anyone help me?
How do you grow a cheap yet beautiful flower garden?
some green house plants are inexpensive, take a look you'll find plenty
nothing beats the low cost of seeds.
hard to give you an estimate with out knowing how big your area is.
a small 4x6 ft bed would need about $20 of plant flats or $5 of seeds (this same area of garden bed could easily cost $200 depending on what plants and other add-ons you choose)
Reply:Okay, here is my advice from experience.
I was very, very impoverished and yet I was simply infatuated by flowers of all kinds.
What I did was make the decision to put myself up a greenhouse. Greenhouses do not have to be from kits or expensive like you see in advertising. What you do is collect windows and all the stuff you will need from salvage yards or places where there is going to be remodeling or demolition, with the help of a carpenter you find at a construction site who needs a side job. He can easily build you a little glass box. The most you will ever need is about an 8x12 room, have him put in some spacious shelving and make sure you have access to water, and you're in business.. All I ever had was a space heater and a rotating fan, and I gardened in my greenhouse starting in midFebruary. I grew so much stuff I had to start a nursery to get rid of it all. The stuff just kept growing so that I had many sets of starts that cranked out of that little room in the course of one springtime.
But as for you, find yourself a nice seed house that offers a quality product at a reasonable price. They are out there. Stay away from the big fancy expensive guys. Start with stuff you can't really go wrong with--annuals are a safe bet. But continually keep pushing your limits. You never know what is going to be possible. By the end of my glorious career, I was growing Meconopsis species like marigolds. Hey, it's all in what you're willing to try.
This is the cheapest way I know of to amass the kind of gorgeous displays that we all wish we could have. I had gardens you can only imagine-every year--for the price of the seed and my soil mix and a pack of pots. The heat was really only on for about a month. I kept the seedlings sort of "on the run" and heat'challenged--eh, it was good for 'em.
Best of luck! It's way, way more fun this way, too. there is nothing to compare with working in a quiet greenhouse all day in February while the snow or the rain surrounds you.
Reply:Pansies and marigolds are super cheap. Go to a greenhouse and check out prices, you'd be surprised.

This is very easy to do. Join a local plant Share group. I'm part of a national one, thats based, in small communities all over the country, called community plant share, all the plants offered are free of charge. The most you will have to do is post your desires, needs and wants and then go pick them up, is someone responds. If there isn't one in your local community, consider stating one, by contacting community plant share.
However if that is not your cup of tea, then check out Lowes home and garden center in the mornings or late at night, they normally have racks full of plants they mark down to .25 or half off , each Lowe's location is different, depending on management.. Right now is a perfect time to go experiment , with different plants and gets lots for your money.
if i were you i would stay away from seeds, this time of year, they needs lots of water and care to spout, and unless your willing to stay on top of them... then leave them bee.
If you post a little more info such as, what zone your in, if you have full sun or shade, then I'm certain everyone can give more advice. if you don't know your zone, than fill in with your city and state. Knowing this info, will help save you a great deal of money , because, then you can be advised of what will grow best in your climate conditions.
I know I wasn't much help, but i love gardening and love to see others take it on as well. With that said i do wish you the very best in your personal gardening experience.

Reply:buy her carnation flowers of her favorite color and give it to her yourself. buy a card also if you can and write down a very sweet message on it.

Reply:Buy them and bring them there yourself :) Or have a buddy she doesn't know to come and give them to her on V-day.

Getting shop to deliver can end up costing a fortune. Besides she will then probably be happy to see you aswell.

Cheap wedding flowers?
We'd like to keep things as affordable as possible as far as flowers go. We're having an outdoor wedding and reception, so we were thinking of even just going with some wild flowers. All this will take place in Nova Scotia.
With this info in mind, can you think of flowers that would be pretty affordable and accesable??
Thank so much!!
Cheap wedding flowers?
Gerbera daisies are very affordable and come in lots of different colors. They are also a fairly big flower, so it doesn't take many of them to make a bouquet, etc.
Here are a few pictures...I personally think they are a beautiful flower. Hope this helps. Good luck :)

Reply:Pick flowers that are in season like another person already said. Also, don't go all one flower for everything. Haveing a bouquet and centerpieces that are just one flower can be very expensive since more will have to be used since there won't be any "filler flowers."
Think about loosely arranged bouquets and centerpieces. Anything that doesn't require a lot of work on a florists part is much cheaper. You can also DYI! The flower wholesaler route is a great way to go.
Even cheaper, forget about floral centerpieces! Try something else like fresh fruit, beta fish, feather centerpiece, candles, depending on what your theme is going to be there are so many options!

Where can I find wild flower seeds cheap?
I have a 2 acre lot in northern aroostook county maine (near canada) and would like to seed the whole parcel with wild flowers native to the area. The summers are short with long cold winters dipping well below zero. I have checked around and the cost for the seeds would run from $400.00 to $800.00 for 4 to 8 pounds. This is a bit pricey for my budget. Please help.
Where can I find wild flower seeds cheap?
i
don't know if there is a dollar store in your area but dollar stores offer one box that contain-es some hundred different kind of seeds I'm not good at math but remember alot of plants will reseed themselves therefore giving you the opportunity to spread the seeds where you want to make a beautiful display
Reply:You could do what I do, which is when it turns cooler the flowers will start to shed their seeds for the next season. Than go around to a field and pick up the seeds. There usually in the flower pods attached to the plant. Than the next spring when its raining go out and spread the seeds around.
Reply:This solution is free, but time-consuming. Take a walk in the woods or an open area. Note which wildflowers you like and their location. Come back in autumn when they've all gone to seed and collect the seed pods. Let them dry out over the winter and open them up for the seeds.
Reply:Do you have are do you know someone that has a dollar general store near you . The have flower seed four packs for a dollar . I think the are wild .
Reply:AmericanMeadows.com. I think this is the name. Google wildflowers. Maybe Lonnie's Bulk Seed. Also, internet site. Good Luck!

How can I save wilting flowers?
I just bought some cheap-o flowers from 7-11, and they are quite alive, but some of them just don't seem that firm and colorful. They seem kind of wilty. How can I save them? They came with flower food, what else can I do??
How can I save wilting flowers?
water the heck outta them and give them plenty of sunlight... and they will be okay soon :D
Reply:they only last a few days, buy new ones
Reply:Cut the ends of the wilty ones under water and return to the vase - could be the ends are blocked and they cannot drink any water, so cut the ends. If the stem is bent, you need to cut off the bent end, again water cannot go pass a bend. During the day place the flowers in sunshine.
Reply:Put some salt in the water. Use the food in very small doses.
Reply:aunt jemima syrup. the sugar is good for it.

Reply:Cut the stems at an angle and put them in water with the preservative mixed into the water.
Roses are a little different. After cutting their stems, put them in very hot tap water with the preservative in it. They revive and suck up water better if it's hot.
Some things need the stem seared like dahlias. You would put a lit match or candle flame to the stem for a few seconds before putting the stem in water.
Reply:Cut the stems diagonally, strip off any leaves below water level and add half an aspirin to the water.
Reply:fresh water and sunlight
Reply:try to water them and put them in the sun
Reply:throw them a goodbye party
Reply:cut the stems, but it sounds too late. always trim the ends of the stems after you buy flowers and before putting in a vase.
Reply:I have heard that you put an aspirin in the water with a Tablespoon of sugar and it should make the flowers stay alive longer.
Reply:There's only so much you CAN do. Flowers are not really like living plants and they're not getting any soil nutrient they would be getting if they were still on the stock. The flower food only allows them to last a little longer.
Reply:with a dozen roses you can put in a drop of bleach into the water to really prolong the life of the flowers

Silk flowers??? cheap looking?
i was thinking maybe i would do silk flowers for the wedding...i think they look pretty, they're def. less expensive, im just not sure if that would seem tacky or not...any opinions?
Silk flowers??? cheap looking?
Okay, I'm definitely in the pro-silk camp (doing them for mine). Good ones look fantastic and last.
One poster said the savings might be negligible because good-quality silks can cost as much as real flowers. Well, that's true if you only look at the cost per stem, but you will still save with silks if you do them yourself, because you will not be paying labor costs. Also, with silks you can get some stems with several flowers and cut those apart to use as filler. You'll pay a lot more to buy three filler stems than you will to buy one silk stem that you can cut into three.
Another poster advised not to do them yourself because you won't have time. A big advantage to silks is that you can do them yourself, in your own time. My bouquets, boutanniers, and centerpieces are completed, and it's still three months til the wedding. I saved a bundle.
Reply:Well done, silk flowers look like the real thing , and you may think they are until you touch them! But one word of caution, despite what you may have heard, the "good ones" can often be more expensive than real flowers.
Make sure you do your research and see the samples in person, don't pick out fake flowers online without seeing and holding a sample in your hands first!
Having real and fake all depends on what is most imporatant to you on your wedding day. If you want great food, you can fore-go really pricey flower arrangements! If you want the flowers to look spectacular, you may want to get real flowers from a reputable florist, or find the best fake flowers you can and cut back on something else.
Just a thought :)
Reply:They can be beautiful. Just be sure you get clean pretty ones. What is tacky is for people to spend so much on the decorating that they can't afford simple hospitality - or even worse, they spend so much on flowers that they ask for cash gifts for the honeymoon.
You do what you can afford and don't worry about being criticized for not spending too much. Again, just be sure the flowers are pretty and not beat up from being at the store too long.
Reply:Not cheap looking at all. If they are done right, and by a professional, I think they look better than real flowers. No allergies to worry about either.
My sisters had silk, and the florist who put them together even got hot glue with a little glitter in it, and put it (very lightly) on some of the leaves and petals to make it look like dew. In the pictures, it catches the light just right, and the flowers look like they have real dew on them! Absolutely beautiful.
Not to mention that they still have their flowers, and they still look just as good today as they did when they walked down the aisle.... and we're talking over 10 years!
I'd have a silk florist or real florist do the arrangements though, don't try to do them yourself, you don't have the time! :)
Good luck, and Congratulations!
Reply:I dont think they are tacky, they arent as pretty as real ones but sometimes the budget just doesnt allow for it.
We are doing silk flowers for the guest tables, there are about 20 of them and we just dont have the money to do that so we did them ourselves (my aunt arranges flowers). We did real flowers for people though (bouquets, boutineers, corsages....oh and pews)....
I dont think people really pay that much attention to centerpieces and stuff. I mean they notice when they are extravagant but other than that, it's just something small. Some people do candles and stuff instead but we would have to had everything covered so we opted for fake flowers.....Who cares, it's going to be a fun day and if people are considered with flowers more so than other things, well then they are lame!
Reply:I agree with some of the other posters... if you get the right flowers and right quality they are gorgeous... But if you get the cheap flowers from like a dollar store you have a hard time making them look pretty. You just have to be careful price wise because silk flowers can end up just as expensive or more so than real flowers.
Reply:I used silk flowers for the decor and fresh flowers for the bouquets. The ones at Joann Fabrics are quite nice and work well for decor flowers, at least. But I can't say they're much less expensive than the fresh, I guess it depends on the flowers you're choosing. I didn't like the ones at Michael's, they look too fake.
Reply:Depends on whether you're having your wedding indoors or outdoors. Indoors, they're fine as arrangements or pew decorations, but I would definitely use fresh flowers for your bouquets. You don't have to have an elaborate bouquet and places like Costco even do wedding packages for fairly cheap. Good luck!
Reply:Here are two amazing silk floral designers! I saw designs by J. Lynn in person and did not even realize they were fake! I would say though to go with someone like a designer because they get much better silk than if you went to a craft store.

Personally I did real the first time, spent over 3,000 and have nothing to show for it.
Reply:How about a combination?
If you are looking at a cost savings you could do a mix of real and artificial. Perhaps do artifical to decorate the church and recpetion and then use real flowers for the rest.

What is the cheapest way to buy real flowers for an outdoor wedding in July in Tennessee?
I mean CHEAP. Very tight budget. We can arrange them ourselves... my sister is GREAT at arranging flowers. Any ideas appreciated.
:)
What is the cheapest way to buy real flowers for an outdoor wedding in July in Tennessee?
There are many wholesale places on the web that sell flowers to the average consumer without a vendors liscence. Here are a few websites that I have found that are able to give you low prices.
http://www.onlinewholesaleflowers.com/
www.theflowerexchange.com
I checked out the prices and they are within a few cents of what a retail florist would pay if they bought them from their wholesaler.
I have a floral design degree from Ohio State University and have owned my own flower shop.
Reply:see if you have a flower market in town... the place where the florists buy wholesale... usually anyone can buy there...
Reply:call a florist and ask for ideas. There are some purple flowers that are very inexpensive but I can't remember their name. They would help.

Does anyone know where I can get fake flowers for my wedding for a cheap price?
I am looking for fake or silk flowers for my wedding in June, I want yellow and white daisies, but I want to be able to get them at a decent price.
Does anyone know where I can get fake flowers for my wedding for a cheap price?
There are some great stores you can get fake flowers.
At Michaels craft store, you can get a wide variety. But to get them at a cheaper price, look in the Sunday paper because there are often 40% off coupons. I suggest buying a few papers and using the coupons to get all you need at a discounted price.
Hobby Lobby has a wonderful selection also. If you go online (www.hobbylobbly.com) and sign up for the email ads, you get a coupon every week. Every other week, it is a 40% off a regular item. Print as many coupons as you want and buy all you need.
Keep in mind that both of these stores also run great sales.
I know you want fake flowers, but typically, most areas have a fresh food market that sells bulk flowers. Daisies are such a common flower that you might be able to get more this way for a cheaper price and organize your own bouquets.
Anywho...CONGRATS!

Reply:Any craft store such as Hobby Lobby, Micheal's or Joanns. Wal-Mart and Dollar stores offer a variety of silk flowers. You may also want to talk to your local florist. They should have great quality floral and sometimes will have them at a reasonable price. You should also consider who will be putting them together for you. If you will be designing them, that is great. Most craft stores have designers that can put them together for you however you may not like the price they charge. You can contact me for designing (I'm a florist!)

Reply:Most dollar stores do carry a selection of artificial flowers. But you get what you pay for. Check with your local craft store. If you need a larger quantity they may be able to offer you a discount. Or at least their sale price (generally 20-30% off)
Good Luck and congratulations!
Also check ebay, sometimes you can get gently used wedding florals.

I also got my flowers ( two bouquets a much lighter one to throw my bouquet is way too heavy to throw) there and the centerpieces and corsages for 3 moms and a grandma (fiance didn't want any on the men so I have a bit extra)
Also check eBay as I found my bouquet on their after I made it and it was being cleared out of an eBay store.
Take pics when you go to give you an idea of how many you will need otherwise you will be going back for more to fill in spots because once you wrap it it won't sit the same as it did when you were holding them to get an idea of size.

Reply:don't use cheap fake flowers. they will look terrible in your pictures! Call around to local florists... (not the chain kind) and tell them that you are doing your wedding on a budget and want to know what is in season and cheap. I did all the flowers for my wedding for under $200 that way and I even had a toss bouquet.
Have the bridesmaids carry one or three (always carry odd #'s) of a beautiful long stemed flower instead of a bouquet and that is cheaper too.
I did gladiolas and each girl (5) had 3 stems tied with a ribbon and I had 5 white ones with 3 blush pink roses. The guys then had boutinears of gladiola buds. It was very unique, elegant and inexpensive.

What is a pretty but cheap flower. thanks. For a boquet

Home Depot has a big selection, buy them by the gallon, if needed, cut the night before and put in vases. They will be about $3.98 or $5.98, depending on flower.
Reply:Hi September Bride! I totally agree with you--flowers are outrageous right now (like everything else!) I guess your flower selection would depend on your wedding theme-is it simple and casual, or are you wearing a formal dress, etc.? There are not a lot of late-summer blooming flowers, but in Sept. you could get some really gorgeous giant pots of mums in those really neat wooden baskets. They come in purples, whites, bright yellows, and golds, and a few other autumn colors. You could get the big pots and then match your bouquet with say, a few roses in the same color family. Use a lot of greenery to fill in. And, you could always consider "permanent botanicals," (silk flowers); that way you would always have them as a keepsake!
Reply:I suggest you go to a garden center buy some seeds,or perennial plants that will okay for your wedding and plant them now.Depending on what part of the country you live in will determine the kind. This way you get to be your own gardener and have them fresh picked at right time,a flower called bachelor buttons come in many colors.

What is a cheap flower for my boquet. I am thinking gerber daisies will be cheap, but i?
don't know anything about flowers.. any suggestions
What is a cheap flower for my boquet. I am thinking gerber daisies will be cheap, but i?
i think carnations are the cheapest, but go with what YOU like.
Reply:If you want to save money, buying "cheap" flowers may not save a whole lot of money, though.
Case in point:
For example, Carnations and Daisies are inexpensive in terms of the stem price, usually ~75 cents a stem. Premium Oriental Lilies, on the other hand, can be very expensive, around $10 a stem.
To make a bridal bouquet with carnations, you would need about 20-30 stems of carnations. You would also need a filler (a cheap one would be 'Baby's Breath) and some greeneries, so the total cost would be about $25-30.
Oriental Lilies have 3-4 blooms per stem and they are BIG. So, to make a bridal bouquet with lilies, you only need 3-4 stems of good-quality lilies (NOT a Supermarket-kind). You don't need fillers or greeneries for lily bouquet. So the total cost would be about $30-40, more expensive than carnation bouquet, sure, but not as different as the per-stem price difference might suggest (75 cents versus $10).
If you want to save money in wedding flowers, the best course of action is either 1) use fake flowers or 2) DIY (Do-It-Yourself). Start growing Hydrangea in your backyard, for example. :-)
Reply:Gerbera daisies are quite popular now, so they aren't that cheap. They are running about the same price as roses now - according to 1800flowers.com (I just looked it up)
PLUS, I just got married. The red gerbera daisy bouquet I had was listed right next to the roses for price... everything was included in my package, but if I had chosen another flower, I would've gotten money back.
I too think carnations are the least expensive.
Good luck, and Congratulations!
Reply:If your using a florist ask them what is in season. Whatever is in season in your area right now will be the cheapest. Carnations are very enexpensive. We are using them in my wedding because they are my favorite and because that's all my fiance has ever given me!!
Reply:If you can, make your own bouquet and you have more options. I did and I got sooo many compliments. Check out fiftyflowers.com, it's where I ordered my yellow and cream roses, they were beautiful. It can also give you a good price variation.
Check out some florists in your area and even sam's club!
Reply:Actually, they aren't. Carnations are the best, they come in a wide variety of colors and you can get both long-stemmed for bouquets and sprays of mini carns for corsages and boutonnieres.
Reply:Just go to a Wal-mart if there's one nearby and buy a bouquet the night before the wedding, they are beautiful and cheap.

Cheap Perennial Flower Seeds?
I'm looking to buy cheap perennial flower seeds in bulk online or in a store, any suggestions?
Cheap Perennial Flower Seeds?
it is autumn now, you can get the seeds from any flower for free, just ask your friends, neighbours, relatives to give you some dried flower heads from their garden.
And in winter you can buy the roots of perennial plants, it is the cheapest, and you don't have to wait for 2 years for them to start blooming.
Reply:I'm not sure what you mean by bulk. If you are in the business, most seed companies wholesale, but there's usually a minimum order of several hundred dollars. That's one hell of a lot of seed!
If there is a garden club in your area, you might look into joining and swapping seeds with members.
Reply:If you live where there is a Big Lots store they sell their seeds in packets very cheaply. Good luck!
Reply:Try Ebay....so seriously....I was surprised by the selection and most everyone will combine shipping. I've had good luck there.
Reply:I don't know where you are located so here is a couple of sites for in Canada or USA. You can also google a search for seed companies.

Where can i find flowers for cheap and in bulk?
Hey David,
The Boston Flower Exchange is a great place for that. Here is the web site, and a few others.
Where can i find flowers for cheap and in bulk?
Cemetary dumpster.
Reply:usually u can find it in the canadian home and garden catalogues
Reply:i buy them buy bulk @ home depot maybe any local nursery will do the same for you
Reply:If you're looking for cut flowers, the answer is a wholesale flower market.
If you're looking for flowering plants, the answer is "by the flat, from someone who will give you a quantity discount". That may be a retailer, but is more likely to be a retailer/grower.
Or you can grow the plants from seeds or cuttings.

Cheap wedding spring flowers?
What kind of flowers are great spring flowers that would go with a cheap/low key wedding. I only need flowers for myself. I hardly know anything about flowers. p.s. i bought a white sundress for my wedding dress and i'm wearing pearls.
thank you
Cheap wedding spring flowers?
Nowadays, most things are available year round at fairly consistent prices except for a few flowers.
Cheaper flowers are...
regular daisies
chrysanthemums
carnations
Reply:Well if you are going low key and dont want to spend a bunch you could always go to the grocery store and get a couple of small bunches of mixed flower bouquets and clean them at the bottom cut them at an angel. Find some ribbon you like and hand wrap them tight. You can look at pictures of bouquets that are hand tied and get the idea! You dont have to pay an arm and a leg! Good luck! Remember the more creative you are the more your bouquet will reflect your own personal style! Craft stores are great places to pick up accents. It is for only one bouquet you can do as little or as much as you want!
Reply:You can always go with silk flowers, these are generally inexpensive and can be kept if you choose to. Also, the best option may be to go to a few of your local florists and ask them what naturally blooms (in your area) during the time of year that you are planning to marry as these will tend to be easiest to get and least expensive. If you want real flowers this is probably your best bet, go to multiple places though because they will quote you different prices. You should have an idea of how large of a bouquet you want, if you want a toss away bouquet so you can keep yours, if you have a specific color scheme for your wedding that you want to include (which may be done in a ribbon around the base of the bouquet), and what kind of a budget you have for flowers before you go. If you want more ideas, you can do a google image search for wedding bouquets and see a whole lot of them to give you ideas. Here is a website that has some I like, in different colors and sizes. If you find a picture of something you like, you should be able to get a florist to duplicate it or at least come close.

Reply:I agree with Bride2Be.... you can get some really nice flowers from grocery stores. I always buy my flowers at Wal-Mart, they are always very nice bouquets and they are very cheap. I honestly think they last longer then flowers from a floral shop. You could pick them up a day or two before your wedding and clean them up then tie a ribbon around them and you will be good to go!
Reply:Hydrangeas are absolutely lovely. They come in these big bunches for $6-$15. Most species come in white, but they also grow in colors of blue, purple, pink, and red.
Reply:I would gather a bouquet of wild flowers. They are in season and so not very expensive and would look gorgeous with a white sundress.
Reply:I would go some place and get one or 2 of your favorit flower and use that. Even if you use fake flowers.

Anybody know of any good websites w/cheap flowers?
All the cheap site are REAL bad. The flowers are almost dead already. If these flowers are for someone local go to a Sam's Club if you can/one in your area. They have great flowers.

Portland Oregon Any ideas for cheap wedding chapels, etc?
I'm in the early planning stages of my wedding but my budget is really low. Any ideas on cheap flowers, caterers, places to hold my wedding, cheap cakes, etc?
Thank you.
Portland Oregon Any ideas for cheap wedding chapels, etc?
Why not get married outdoor? There are plenty of nice parks around the area but also why not look at like beaverton bakery for a cake but also like bales thriftway has really good wedding cakes. You will really need to call around and the sooner you do that in advance the better. Or just go to Vegas they are cheap. lol Good luck to you and enjoy the wedding and planning.
Reply:I suggest visiting http://www.weddinglenox.com or onewed.com
Unlike most yellow pages, they have price comparison for the vendors (DJ,videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose.
You can also try Weddinglenox matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup... that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved email from vendors according to my request.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
Thank you.

Cheap flowers in Brazil?
I would like to send flowers to a girl on Valentines day, but I am a poor student. Does anyone know of an affordable flower delivery service that could deliver to Recife?
Thank you!
Cheap flowers in Brazil?
Where are you from?
If you are not Brazilian, I guess you would find a nice flower deliver, but they probably won't take you credit card here. I do not know the reason, but most places here 'don't take credit card issued abroad.
Thank you!

Looking for cheap Sydney wedding companies eg cars, invites, cakes and flowers?
Hey,
I am planning my wedding and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas/experience with companies that provide wedding services for a good price. I'm particularly interested in cars, flowers, cakes and stationary?
All ideas would be more than welcome!
Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can buy cheap flowers for a wedding?
I've heard this is a good website - http://www.fiftyflowers.com/
also I would check out Sam's %26amp; CostCo too
Reply:There are ways to get round flowers. Depending on when/where you are getting married there will be flowers already there.
Such as around easter and christmas time in churches. They will often leave the flowers up for you if you ask them.
If not then you could avoid buying flowers in feb as they'll be expensive because of valentine's day...
Other than that, I think it'd be a case of shopping around.
Congrats!
Reply:If you are ok with fake flowers, I'm getting my flowers for my wedding at Michaels. Hobby Lobby might also have some silk flowers that you might like, neither of them are too expensive. I have looked at Wal-Mart as well, but they didn't have the exact colors that i was looking for, although they had a lot of nice silk flowers.

How are the flowers at wholesale places different from the ones at Trader Joe's?
I'd like to buy bulk flowers and make arrangements myself. I've never visited a wholesale floral place before, but when I went to Trader Joe's (or some other supermarkets), they have cheap flowers as well ($10 for a dozen small roses). I was wondering, do they have similar prices at wholesale florals or are the prices similar? Thanks.
How are the flowers at wholesale places different from the ones at Trader Joe's?
Trader Joe is just a middle man he buys from wholesalers also, he just buys so much he gets a break on the price then he makes the $$, if you buy enough the wholesaler should give you a break also, you may need a resale license.
Reply:well i dont speak english really good and so i just wane chat and not answer ur questions so mail me at ------------------------charmedpinkcats@...
Reply:Wholesale florists are going to provide a better bulk selection and will most likely be fresher. Super markets usually get them after the wholesaler, more shipping and waiting time. Why not cut the middle man. There are also excellent web sites with great deals that will send the flowers right to your door, fast, fresh and cheaper. Don't forget to process them after. Alittle sugar in warm water after cutting is good for almost all flowers. (No milky stems).
Reply:Zoe has good advice. Wholesalers get fresh flowers...when they start to turn they "unload them" to high volume retail places at near cost....to keep them longer would mean complete loss of investment.
However, you ordinairly have to operate a business to get access to the wholesale places. That means your local permeits and state resale tax number before they will let you in the door.
Keep in mind you are dealing with a live commoditiy with limited "shelf life". Wholesaler get the cuttings in less than 24 hours. Retailers get theirs in up to 72 hours and what they don't sell goes into the garbage.
Reply:Trader Joe's are the freshest I have ever found. Daffodils last 2 weeks from there.

Any cheap flowers I can send to WI?
I am trying to send flowers to a dear friend of mine on the other side of the states... I was hoping to spend $20 or less... it doesn't have to be many flowers, just something small... the cheapest I can find is $30... anyone know any other sites I can visit to find flowers $20 and under?
Any cheap flowers I can send to WI?
Look in the city of WI you are sending the flowers and look for an independent flower shop. You can search local on the Internet with just the city name. Contact a local shop %26amp; see if you can work a deal, something they already have is stock. Left overs from a wedding, or special event. They may give you a break on the price. Also check to see if Sam's Club can help or Wal-mart on line.
If you can find someone to pick up the flowers it could also save money.
I once got iris for reasonable because they were left over from a wedding order.
